Controls
- Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to make Beraboh Man run left and right, crouch, and crawl left and right. In the underwater stages, Beraboh Man is always moving forward, but you can direct him virtually anywhere except the right-hand side of the screen.
- Attack Button: Use this button to make Beraboh Man punch, headbutt if he's crouching, and kick if you are holding the joystick up. Pressing it lightly makes Beraboh Man perform a quick attack and pressing it harder makes him perform a more powerful attack. Even the smallest enemies can't be killed with a quick attack, so it is of little use. In the underwater stages, this button makes Beraboh Man shoot missiles at his enemies.
- Jump Button: Use this button to make Beraboh Man jump. Pressing it lightly makes him perform a short jump and pressing it harder makes him perform a higher jump. Even the smallest obstacles can't be jumped over with a short jump, so it is of little use. In the underwater stages, this button makes Beraboh Man drop depth charges on the enemies.
- 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.
Characters
Beraboh Man (ベラボーマン)
The protagonist of the game. He is all that stands in the way of Dr. Bakuda and his evil army and will not stop until they are defeated and the world is once again safe for humanity.
To the left is Beraboh Man as he appears in the regular platforming stages. To the right is how he appears in the underwater stages, where he fights his enemies with missiles and depth charges instead of his limbs.
Alpha Man (α遊星人)
The alien from Planet Alpha who gave Beraboh Man his powers. He appears on the first stage to provide a "how to play" walkthrough of the game's controls, and also appears on the thirty-second stage after Dr. Bakuda has been defeated.
Fukubiki Man (福引男)
Beraboh Man's sort-of partner. He appears at the end of most regular platforming stages to give Beraboh Man energy bonuses.
Powerups
- Fuku (福): Technically not a powerup, but most enemies, when defeated, will leave one behind. Collect 10 to make Fukubiki Man appear and leave a powerup behind. For every 10 Fuku you collect, Fukubiki Man will give Beraboh Man one Onigiri energy bonus at the end of the stage.
- Onigiri (おにぎり): Will restore Beraboh Man's energy by 3. Fukubiki Man sometimes leaves them behind when you collect 10 Fuku and can also give them to Beraboh Man at the end of most regular platforming stages.
- Sushi (寿司): Will restore all of Beraboh Man's energy.
- Oronamin Drink (無敵ドリンク ): Will make Beraboh Man invincible for approximately 20 seconds.
- Kobushi (貫通拳): Will make Beraboh Man's attacks 5 times more powerful for the rest of the current stage.
- Atom (波動弾): Will make Beraboh Man fire atoms at his enemies instead of using his usual attacks. After 10 uses, its effect will wear off.
- Shinkansen (新幹線): Will make Beraboh Man fly right to the end of the current stage, sometimes even skipping the boss (if there is one).
- Ramen (ラーメン): Will restore Beraboh Man's energy by 8.
- Suka (スカ): Will give you 500 extra points.
Unbaba (ウンババ)
These are the first enemies you'll meet. You just have to hit them once to kill them.
Mini Tanks (ミニタンクス)
They're too near the ground to be punched or kicked, so you'll have to take them out with a single headbutt.
Dokanga (ドカンガー)
They hide in some of the pipes in the City stages. They'll come out for a few seconds, then fire a missile at Beraboh Man before going back into the pipe again. One hit will kill them.
Mogura Drills (モグラドリルズ)
They attack in a manner similar to that of the Mini Tanks, but can move backwards as well as forwards. One hit will kill them.
Baninga (バーニンガー)
They move backwards and forwards in a fixed position if they can detect that Beraboh Man is nearby and will occasionally shoot flames at him. If Beraboh Man lands on their heads, he will not get injured. Two hits will kill them.
Mokera (モケラ)
When Beraboh Man approaches them, they will fire their heads at him and instantly grow replacement ones. After this they will move towards him before firing their heads at him again. Three hits will kill them.
Tekyuu (鉄球)
They can move either up and down or left and right in a fixed position. They can't be killed and must be avoided.
Magneiza NP1 (マグネイザーNP1)
They do not move, but will occasionally open their mouths to emit a magnetic force that pulls Beraboh Man towards them if he is in its range. Two hits will kill them.
Totems (トテムズ)
The green, red, gray and black ones shoot axes at Beraboh Man, but the blue ones lower themselves down on him. One hit will kill them, but they will sometimes ricochet back at you so you have to jump to avoid them.
Black Beraboh (ブラックベラボー)
Appears as a boss on the second, fifth, sixth, eighteenth, thirtieth and thirty-second stages. He usually takes six hits, but on the thirty-second stage he will take 28. After being defeated here, he will reveal that Dr. Bakuda originally created him in order to make him (Beraboh Man) more powerful and will even give him five Onigiri energy bonuses.
Kurage (クラゲ)
They can attack in two ways: either by swimming directly at Beraboh Man, or by waiting until he approaches then swimming up to hit him from below. One hit will kill them.
Ika (イカ)
When Beraboh Man approaches, they will swim down in an attempt to land on him. One hit will kill them.
Maimai Men (マイマイ男)
They can also attack in two ways: by swimming directly at Beraboh Man, or by walking along and shooting spiked balls at him. One hit will kill them.
Doragon (ドラゴン)
They swim up and down in a fixed position. One hit will kill them.
Tamashii (魂)
When Beraboh Man approaches, they will home in on him. Three hits will kill them, but if one latches on to Beraboh Man, you'll have to shake it off in order to get rid of it as they will drain his energy.
Isogin (イソギン)
They don't move, but will shoot spiked balls at Beraboh Man. One hit will kill them.
Pirania (ピラニア)
They move in a zigzag pattern and attack in groups of nine. One hit will kill them, and if Beraboh Man kills one, he will also kill any others behind it.
Tako (タコ)
When they see Beraboh Man, they will shoot spiked balls at him and retreat. One hit will kill them.
Twin Scuren (ツインスキュレーン)
Appears as a boss on the third, eleventh, sixteenth, twenty-fifth and twenty-seventh stages. It attacks by spitting projectiles at Beraboh Man from its heads, which take five hits each. After you've destroyed the heads, you'll need to score a hit on its operator to make it retreat.
Kakure Mino (隠れ蓑)
When they see Beraboh Man, they will jump into the air in an attempt to land on him. Two hits will kill them.
Ninjas (忍者)
The purple ones hop around on pogo sticks and try to jump on Beraboh Man, while the green ones will throw projectiles at him. The purple ones can be killed with one hit, while the green ones take two.
Kago (虚無僧)
They throw projectiles at Beraboh Man and can be defeated in two hits. But if Beraboh Man defeats one, her true identity will be revealed, and she can still injure Beraboh Man if she touches him!
Popo (ポポ)
When Beraboh Man approaches, they will come at him very quickly. One hit, which has to be a headbutt, will kill them.
Babito (ばびっと)
They try to attack Beraboh Man from below. One hit will kill them.
Kaname (カナメ)
They attack in pairs and appear as bosses on the fourth, twenty-eighth, twenty-ninth, thirtieth and thirty-second stages (you'll have to fight two pairs of them at once here). Five hits each will kill them.
Maitogai (マイトガイ)
Another enemy that can attack in two ways: either by firing a missile at Beraboh Man, then moving down the screen to fire another and retreating once they've reached the bottom, or by firing a missile at Beraboh Man and retreating soon after. One hit will kill them.
Kikyuu (爆弾)
They fly around above Beraboh Man and try to drop bombs on him. One hit will bring them down, but you'll have to land another hit on them to kill them - and quickly too, because they will soon get back up again.
Mad Stampers (マッドスタンパーズ)
They hop around on 10-ton weights and try to jump on Beraboh Man. One hit will kill them.
Purazuma (プラズマー)
They will circle around Beraboh Man and electrocute him. Unless you have obtained a Kobushi powerup earlier in the stage or still have a few atoms remaining, it is impossible to avoid being electrocuted. If the number of hits you land on them amounts to five, they will both be killed.
Ataku Bonba V9 (アタックボンバーV9)
They fire missiles at Beraboh Man from their arms. Five hits will kill them.
Toriga (トリガー)
They fire projectiles at Beraboh Man from the end of the chains that they wave around, which are their only vulnerable spots. Five hits will kill them.
Umihebi (海ヘビ)
They attack in a manner similar to the first way of the Kurage, but propel themselves upwards in a spiral. One hit will kill them.
Shells (貝)
Another enemy that attacks in a manner similar to the first way of the Kurage, but these ones spin around while propelling themselves upwards. One hit will kill them.
Tatsunoko (タツノコ)
They attack in a manner similar to that of the Doragon, but can also shoot spiked balls at Beraboh Man. One hit will kill them.
