Controls

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to make Beraboh Man run left and right, crouch, and crawl left and right. In the underwater stages, Beraboh Man is always moving forward, but you can direct him virtually anywhere except the right-hand side of the screen.
  • Attack Button: Use this button to make Beraboh Man punch, headbutt if he's crouching, and kick if you are holding the joystick up. Pressing it lightly makes Beraboh Man perform a quick attack and pressing it harder makes him perform a more powerful attack. Even the smallest enemies can't be killed with a quick attack, so it is of little use. In the underwater stages, this button makes Beraboh Man shoot missiles at his enemies.
  • Jump Button: Use this button to make Beraboh Man jump. Pressing it lightly makes him perform a short jump and pressing it harder makes him perform a higher jump. Even the smallest obstacles can't be jumped over with a short jump, so it is of little use. In the underwater stages, this button makes Beraboh Man drop depth charges on the enemies.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.

Characters

Beraboh Man (ベラボーマン)

File:BM Beraboh Man Underwater.gif

The protagonist of the game. He is all that stands in the way of Dr. Bakuda and his evil army and will not stop until they are defeated and the world is once again safe for humanity.
To the left is Beraboh Man as he appears in the regular platforming stages. To the right is how he appears in the underwater stages, where he fights his enemies with missiles and depth charges instead of his limbs.

Alpha Man (α遊星人)

File:BM Alpha Man.gif

The alien from Planet Alpha who gave Beraboh Man his powers. He appears on the first stage to provide a "how to play" walkthrough of the game's controls, and also appears on the thirty-second stage after Dr. Bakuda has been defeated.

Fukubiki Man (福引男)

File:BM Fukubiki Man.gif

Beraboh Man's sort-of partner. He appears at the end of most regular platforming stages to give Beraboh Man energy bonuses.

Powerups

  • Fuku (福): Technically not a powerup, but most enemies, when defeated, will leave one behind. Collect 10 to make Fukubiki Man appear and leave a powerup behind. For every 10 Fuku you collect, Fukubiki Man will give Beraboh Man one Onigiri energy bonus at the end of the stage.
  • Onigiri (おにぎり): Will restore Beraboh Man's energy by 3. Fukubiki Man sometimes leaves them behind when you collect 10 Fuku and can also give them to Beraboh Man at the end of most regular platforming stages.
  • Sushi (寿司): Will restore all of Beraboh Man's energy.
  • Oronamin Drink (無敵ドリンク ): Will make Beraboh Man invincible for approximately 20 seconds.
  • Kobushi (貫通拳): Will make Beraboh Man's attacks 5 times more powerful for the rest of the current stage.
  • Atom (波動弾): Will make Beraboh Man fire atoms at his enemies instead of using his usual attacks. After 10 uses, its effect will wear off.
  • Shinkansen (新幹線): Will make Beraboh Man fly right to the end of the current stage, sometimes even skipping the boss (if there is one).
  • Ramen (ラーメン): Will restore Beraboh Man's energy by 8.
  • Suka (スカ): Will give you 500 extra points.

Unbaba (ウンババ)

File:BM Unbaba.gif

These are the first enemies you'll meet. You just have to hit them once to kill them.

Mini Tanks (ミニタンクス)

File:BM Mini Tank.gif

They're too near the ground to be punched or kicked, so you'll have to take them out with a single headbutt.

Dokanga (ドカンガー)

File:BM Dokanga.gif

They hide in some of the pipes in the City stages. They'll come out for a few seconds, then fire a missile at Beraboh Man before going back into the pipe again. One hit will kill them.

Mogura Drill (モグラドリル)

File:BM Mogura Drill.gif

They attack in a manner similar to that of the Mini Tanks, but can move backwards as well as forwards. One hit will kill them.

Baninga (バーニンガー)

File:BM Baninga.gif

They move backwards and forwards in a fixed position and occasionally shoot flames at Beraboh Man. If Beraboh Man lands on their heads, he will not get injured. Two hits will kill them.

Mokera (モケラ)

File:BM Mokera.gif

When Beraboh Man approaches them, they will fire their heads at him and instantly grow replacement ones. After this they will move towards him before firing their heads at him again. Three hits will kill them.

Magneiza NP1 (マグネイザーNP1)

File:BM Magneiza NP1.gif

They do not move, but will occasionally open their mouths to emit a magnetic force that pulls Beraboh Man towards them if he is in its range. Two hits will kill them.

Totems (トテムズ)

File:BM Totem Black.gif
File:BM Totem Blue.gif

The green, red, gray and black ones shoot axes at Beraboh Man, but the blue ones lower themselves down on him. One hit will kill them, but they will sometimes ricochet back at you so you have to jump to avoid them.

Black Beraboh (ブラックベラボー)

File:BM Black Beraboh.gif

Appears as a boss on the second, fifth, sixth, eighteenth, thirtieth and thirty-second stages. He usually takes six hits, but on the thirty-second stage he will take 28. After being defeated here, he will reveal that Dr. Bakuda originally created him in order to make him (Beraboh Man) more powerful and will even give him five Onigiri energy bonuses.
