The DS has a very diffrent form factor and requires very different controls. Those familiar with the GBA controls will find it similar, though it has the X and Y buttons from the Super Nintendo.

Standard mode

  • Jump: B
  • Punch: A
  • Crouch: R
  • Center the camera: L

Dual Hand Mode

  • Jump: D-pad Up or X
  • Punch: D-pad Right or A
  • Crouch: D-pad Down or B
  • Center the Camera: D-pad Left or Y

  • Double Jump - Press the jump button twice in a row (without Scuttling for Luigi and Yoshi). Mario will go higher than a regular jump.

This Wikibook also clasifies each star based on its difficulty using STARS (Star Trickiness & Asperity Rating System), where one (1) STAR is really easy, and twenty (20) STARS is really hard. Factors taken into consideration include length (both distance and time), enemies, precision, and how evil the course is overall.
