  • X Button/X button/X button: Opens the party/options menu. (Not available within battle or during conversations.)

Dialogue

  • A Button/A button/A button: Continues dialogue.
  • Y Button/Y button/Y button: Switches dialogue box vertical position.

When Controlling a Character

  • A Button/A button/A button: Interaction (talking, touching, taking) and confirmation.
  • B Button/B button/B button: Run, cancel actions, backs out one menu tier.
  • Y Button/Y button/Y button: Display the end of time switch screen (after gaining a fourth character).
  • Start Button/Start button/Plus button: Pause the game.

Exploration

  • A Button/A button/A button: Enters locations and lands a vehicle/mount if over a traversable area.
  • Select Button/Z button/Minus button: Displays the world map.
  • Y Button/Y button/Y button: Displays time travel menu when controlling the Epoch (Aero-Dalton Imperial).
    • L Button/Down Dpad (Super NES Controller); L button/Down dpad (GameCube Controller); L button/Down dpad (Wii Classic Controller) or R Button/Up Dpad (Super NES Controller); R button/Up dpad (GameCube Controller); R button/Up dpad (Wii Classic Controller): Adjusts which time period is to be selected.
    • A Button/A button/A button: Confirm time travel.

Battle

  • A Button/A button/A button: Selects options, confirms targets.
  • B Button/B button/B button: Cancels actions and backs out one menu tier.
  • Y Button/Y button/Y button: Switches dialogue box vertical position.
  • L Button+R Button or L button+R button or L button+R button: Hold to attempt to run. 100% chance of failure in Boss battles.

PlayStation

  • L1 button+L2 button+R1 button+R2 button+Select button+Start button: Reset the game.

Dialogue

  • Cross button: Continues dialogue.
  • Square button: Switches dialogue box vertical position.

When Controlling a Character

  • Neutral dpad: Moves the character or cursor.
  • Triangle button: Opens the party/options menu.
  • Cross button: Interaction (talking, touching, taking) and confirmation (yes/no, etc.).
  • Square button: Open Character exchange screen
  • Circle button: Run, cancel actions, backs out one menu tier.
