School project on Strategywiki. lol.

Just letting you guys know that one of the classes I'm taking involves video games and online communities. Our final project, over the next several months, is to build something - anything - video game related and we're going to build the War3 guide some. Just letting you guys know, I suppose. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 17:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Cool :). Let us know if they have any constructive suggestions. -- Prod (Talk) 07:20, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Mario Golf.

Mario Golf recently came out on the Wii and I realized it's going to up my workrate. I just need someone to setup the Mario Golf article while I'm working on Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. I don't mean that I can't make a new page on the old game but I'm worried that I might end up doing multiple games which I've grown to. You may not understand me clearly but I don't want to end up losing track on what I'm doing. I'm sure you experience multiple articles in one day and I'm sure you are used to that kind of thing. The Multiple Upload Log

What happened to it? On the Upload page it's a red link now, so I was wondering if it had been moved somewhere else. Considering I have a whole heap of Dogz images I need to upload, I really need to use multiple upload. An also, isn't it about time the Staff Lounge was Archived (I know that has nothing to do with uploading and it was said about on the talk page)? --Melon247 Hammy, my hamster. Cute! Multiple Upload has been disabled due to some series bugs it had. It doesn't look like the extension is being maintained, so don't expect to see it back any time soon :(. -- Prod (Talk) 16:20, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

MergeHistory

First, there is a weird thing going on when I use Special:MergeHistory. I get multiple lines of this:

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$rev_parent_id in /home/swiki/public_html/w/includes/Revision.php on line 312

at the top of the page, pushing down all the regular content. The number of lines seems to correspond to the number of edits on the source page, although not at 1:1.

Second, when should merging histories be used? It doesn't copy the edit history, and there's no way to take just the most recent edits, so I don't see the point in using it when someone moves content from an existing page to a new page. Naming the source page in the edit summary of the new one lets anyone interested know where the past revisions are. Using MergeHistory is fine for the destination page, but afterwards the original page is missing its history, so what's the point? - najzereT 17:42, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

It's for merging two pages together... see the StrategyWiki:Guide/Admin guide. --Skizzerz 21:09, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

We need more featured guides

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm tired of seeing the same 8 games on the front page. As of right now, there is 410 (8 of which are the featured ones) complete guides. Anyone have some free time to help look through Category:Guides at completion stage 4 to see which have the potential to become featured sometime soon? I have some freetime usually, so I can go through a few each day if others are willing to help me out. Perhaps we could make to-do lists on the talk pages of complete guides, so it's known what the guide needs before it becomes featured. RobJ1981 20:33, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

1% of all guides being featured is pretty good. These are our best guides. Go ahead and help me get Chrono Trigger done. There's a lot left to do. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:45, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I can check for spelling mistakes and so on, but not much beyond that. I havent played the game. RobJ1981 21:31, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Well it always depends on the strengths of editors and their ability to add and clean up of the pages. Even games that are new or classic still hasn't been made yet. When I came in, I manage to fill in gaps on the Nintendo side and clear up a lot of logical errors that doesn't make sense. The most which interest me is adding buttons on many consoles and having a controller selector kept me going. Lastly working together is the most important that if you put in new text, they will filter it to people who likes to read game guides. Anyway, you may be right that we need more feature guides but it depends on how well made the article is before someone decides whether or not they mark it as a feature guide. By the way, what's a feature guide? Any ideas? Let me know. Johnnyauau2000 06:23, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Right now I'm working to get Petz: Dogz 2 and Catz 2 to featured so anyone who can help on that guide please do :). And Johnny, you can read about what a Featured Guide is here. --Melon247 Hammy, my hamster. Cute! (talk · contribs · comp) 14:12, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
