With Baron Van Zieks giving input, '''press all statements'''. It's clear that Gina can't really take anymore pressure while being on the stand. So to relieve her from the stress, '''press the last statement'''. After you thank her, you point out that someone has known beforehand during this cross examination. '''Present Kazuma Asogi'''. To point out in his inconsistency, '''present the metal briefcase'''. Susato points out what Kazuma Asogi has said earlier that makes you question why he knows this already. But Stronghart wants further proof that he's been in the Grouse steamship. So open the metal briefcase and depending on the angle, point to the left side where the metal shard is stinking out.

Defendants' Antechamber

Ryunosuke Naruhodo and Susato Mikotoba were both awaiting the trial with Baron Van Zieks whom they have to defend since the last episode. As usual, Herlock Sholmes and Iris Wilson will help out while Yujin Mikotoba will be watching on the sidelines. As a past reminder, the last episode shows that after revealing "Gossip" as Mr. Vigil, it turns out that he's the one who helped the "Professor" ten years ago. This revelations allows more investigation leading up to this moment. Anyway, get ready for a lengthy trial of a lifetime!

Trial begins

Before the defense and prosecution starts, instead of the normal English judge, it's Mael Stronghart's turn to take over as the judge! Looks like the tension has skyrocketed to overdrive at this point. The prosecutor Kazuma Asogi will call Inspector Gina Lestrade to the stand. With you, Ryunosuke Naruhodo at the defense stand with Susato Mikotoba as your judicial assistant, you're going to have to muster some brain power to solve Inspector Gregson's death. But there would be more to the story than meets the eye. So brace yourself.

Gina's Testimony: The Victim's Movements

  1. All Yard detectives are s'posed to follow orders an' investigate wot they're told.
  2. But a little search o' the boss's office turned up a notebook that 'ad a load of secret meetin's in it.
  3. Accordin' to that, the boss was lookin' into some smuggled goods dealin's that day.
  4. Looks like it was a big job an' all. But the coppers weren't on to it yet.
  5. Wot matters most is, there's witnesses wot saw the Reaper at the place, too!

The Victim's Movements: Cross Examination

Press on statement 3. Gina is about to show her reading skills. So allow her to make a new statement. It's a closed court case so both you and Kazuma aren't sure if it's related at all until she reads the name of the club that Inspector Gregson has gone to.

On the new statement, present the ticket. Make sure you examine the back of the note or it will not count. At first, Stronghart reads the message about you. So you have to correct him that it's the front of the ticket. You point out that Grouse is actually a steamship.

Continuing on after Gina is losing her cool, prosecutor Asogi orders her to continue with her testimony, but as a surprise, Baron Van Zieks suddenly steps in, believing that this testimony is practically a script and will give insight to this case. Ryunosuke demands to allow Van Zieks to speak and Stronghart allows it.

  1. Yeah, this notebook does 'ave a load o' stuff about wot the Reaper got up to these past ten years.
  2. Names o' victims, dates an' places an' stuff... An' the last entry in there was 31st October.
  3. It said 'Grouse' for the place on that date, and then the name o' the mark.
  4. There was a note about 'im bein' a criminal wot got away from the Reaper in court ten years ago or summat.
  5. But honest! The boss didn't do none of it! 'E was... 'E was just investigatin' the Reaper, that's all!

The Reaper's Notebook: Cross Examination

With Baron Van Zieks giving input, press all statements. It's clear that Gina can't really take anymore pressure while being on the stand. So to relieve her from the stress, press the last statement. After you thank her, you point out that someone has known beforehand during this cross examination. Present Kazuma Asogi. To point out in his inconsistency, present the metal briefcase. Susato points out what Kazuma Asogi has said earlier that makes you question why he knows this already. But Stronghart wants further proof that he's been in the Grouse steamship. So open the metal briefcase and depending on the angle, point to the left side where the metal shard is sticking out.

Ryunosuke Naruhodo correctly points out that the metal shard belongs to Kazuma's sword "Karuma". The sword is put into the Court Record.

Also noting Seishiro in Gregson's secret notebook, Stronghart orders an emergency recess as he and Kazuma reveals that if the Japanese judge is not found soon, he'll be declared dead and thus ending this case.

Once Ryunosuke and Susato were alone in court, you feel disheartened until Susato reveals that you have Hurley's Lucky Charm that Iris gave you earlier before this court starts. With luck on your side, pull the ears so you can talk to Herlock Sholmes with Yujin Mikotoba on board the very steamship, Grouse. They'll tell you that they would find him within thirty minutes. So there's one more set of eyes that you'll see through in Susato's father perspective.

Grouse Investigation Sholmes and Yujin style

Outside on the passageway, you might remember that Russian sailor, Stragenov who helped the ballerina Nikolina Pavlova escape to America after a misunderstanding that got Ryunosuke framed for murder. Anyway, Sholmes wants you to create a distraction. Click on the bell and set it off! Stragenov runs to the communication device to explain that it's a false alarm.

So your job is to find out if Seishiro has left the ship or not. Check the ice, the trunk, the board with rules, the strange rectangle and the trash can that has a scrunched up paper, showing the drill that happened recently.

Russian sailor Stragenov tries to kick both of you out. But time is at an essence since they have less than thirty minutes to find the Japanese judge. So what do they do? Time for Dance of Deduction. Here's the items for you to point out during the deduction: Start with the glass with ice. It's clear that the ice has barely melted since it's unlikely that he left the drink for more than two hours. Second is the board with rules that's behind the left side of Stragenov. Sholmes pulled it open to find a bullet hole with the bullet missing. Third is why Stragenov is keeping up with the pretence, move the camera to the bottom side behind him and point to money sticking out of his pocket. Forth is find where Stragenov is looking at. Point to the trunk. Despite his size, he could've hide perfectly inside a large trunk. But it contains a seven number combination! When Stragenov is about to hit you with his left arm, his strange arm marks is the final clue to resolving this mystery.

Unless you own a Nintendo Switch, there's a final twist to the code: What is you turn Sholmes upside down? The correct numbers to open the trunk is 5231045. Yujin and Herlock explains to Sheishiro that he's been ordered to go back to London for the trial. Last of all, you put the trinket into the court record and this ends the mystery.

Resolution of the missing Japanese judge

With thirty minutes up, before Stronghart calls for the end of the case, Ryunosuke gives out the news that Sheishiro, the Japanese judge was in Dunkirk, France and he'll back to this court tomorrow, thanks to Herlock Sholmes and Yujin Mikotoba for finding him. With little choice as he's the key to whether he has killed Inspector Gregson or not will be revealed in part two or in this case, tomorrow. You can breathe a sigh of relief and take a break for another heated court case.
