New Leaf City / Global

The new logo for New Leaf City.

This is the newly announced Global "Exclusive" area (the word exclusive was actually used to describe it this time), called New Leaf City. As described by the GM, it will be made up of ideas from such international cities as those listed below:

"And because it is so large, that means diversity--we have people playing from Los Angeles to New York to London to Paris to Rome to Tel Aviv. How could we go about creating an area that everyone can enjoy and resonate with? A city. Not just any city. A city where the past meets the present meets the future. A city that holds many, many secrets; and is the beginning of something new."

Right now it is confirmed that New Leaf City will include a hair salon (change hair style and color) and plastic surgery (change face and eye color) and it will also not be accessed via World Tour NPC, at least in GlobalMS. Nexon is also planning to expand on the city over time and will have it include training areas for all levels. There will be a boss, likely based off of urban legends and the like, as well as a variety of quests for all levels. It will likely contain a lot of popular culture references. Contrary to some players' fears, it is unrelated to Amoria in any way and will feature completely new and original monsters. New Leaf City will contain the Theme Park mentioned by Cody all the way back after the release of Global Maple Story.

Some concept art has been released, showing an Elephant monster, with a flaming tail that shoots fireballs from its trunk and wears goggles, completely unlike any monster currently in existence. Few monsters below level 50 have magic attacks, implying that it is fairly strong, and its fiery nature would also seemingly imply elemental attributes. The monsters have been said to have a more mythological nature, rather than a natural or environmental one as seen in other original areas. The origins of how these monsters came to be and the town's history itself will be explained through in game quests and outside of the game descriptions. It has also been stated that Amoria and New Leaf City will have tie in quests, and each of the NPCs will have a fair amount of background to them. It has also been mentioned by NxProse that New Leaf City could be a region on it's own (like Zipangu or Formosa), so New Leaf City might have multiple towns within it as it expands over time.
