Route 202 map.

Route 202 is where you will learn to catch Pokémon. Also here you can catch a new Pokémon in Shinx who's an Electric type and a great addition to your team. You will run into your first trainers as well who will give experience and money.

Pokémon catching lesson[edit]

Enter Route 202 and once you go into the first grass you see you will find Lucas/Dawn. He/she will call you over and tell you to say goodbye to your mom. While saying bye to your mom Barrys mom gives you a parcel to give to Barry. Once done return to Lucas/Dawn and he/she will show you how to catch Pokémon. It’s helpful to lower the foe’s HP into the yellow or red before throwing the ball. You will then receive you 5 Pokéballs from them and you can start catching new Pokémon now!

Traversing the route[edit]

Your ultimate goal here is to catch new Pokémon and train your team via the trainers and wild Pokémon

Follow the route west through the grass and then go north. Turn right and walk east where you will see Youngster Tristan standing in front of trees.

Go east from Tristan and stop when you’re facing a column of trees. Take two steps down and travel east you’ll unavoidably come into Lass Natalie's view.

Head east and north through tall grass. At the end is Youngster Logan.

Head west past the main track and into the grassy bush. You’ll find a Potion. Leave the bush and walk back onto the main path. Head northwards to Jubilife City.
