This route is one more stepping stone to get to Stark Mountain, and may be somewhat difficult if you have not been leveling your Pokémon consistently. Also note that any battle that takes place here will have a sandstorm raging.

Pokémon Appearances

  • Rhydon
  • Dugtrio
  • Diglet
  • Cacturne
  • Cacnea
  • Hippowdon

Note that the fully evolved Pokémon are levels 50-55, whereas the first forms are only levels 20-25. You will want to nab these Pokémon, not only because of their high level and ground type, but also because many of them have very high Defense stats.

Items

  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • TM37 Sandstorm
  • Hondew berry x2
  • Tomato berry x2
  • Ultra Ball
  • Shed Shell
  • Rare Candy
  • Protector

Note that the Rare Candy is incredibly hard to find as it is in an obscure area, and it is invisible. To get it, use your Dowsing feature on your Pokétch near the exit to Route 226.

Points of Interest

In one of the houses along the route you will find a Move Tutor. He is willing to teach special moves to any elemental starter Pokémon. The combination is as follows:

Move Teachable Pokémon
Blast Burn Charizard, Typhlosion, Blaziken, Infernape
Hydro Cannon Blastoise, Feraligatr, Swampert, Empoleon
Frenzy Plant Venasaur, Meganium, Sceptile, Torterra

Obviously, Blast Burn is Fire, Hydro Cannon is Water, and Franzy Plant is Grass. The stats for the moves are as follows: Power: 150| Accuracy: 90| PP: 5 Note that these are basically like elemental Hyper Beams, as they have the same Power, Accuracy, and PP, and the user has to recharge the next turn.
