Sakura Castle map; not implemented in GMS.

MS Mushroom Shrine Icon.png Sakura Castle

  • Required level: 70.

Sakura Castle is a theme dungeon accessed via the Dimensional Mirror. The monsters and maps are all based on Ninja Castle. In fact, Sakura Castle replaced Zipangu's Ninja Castle in several versions. A few versions have both castles, however. You cannot face the boss unless you have completed all of the quests up to opening the barrier. The final boss is the Daimyo Toad, which transforms into the Gigatoad upon death.

General notes from Rise Against (v121) patch notes
  • Starts with the quest "Tae Gong's Request: This is NOT a Fish."
  • You will receive a mystical book. You must turn the book in to Wiz the Librarian.
  • After talking to Wiz the Librarian, you can start "The Land Across the Sea."
  • You will receive the book again, but this time double clicking on the book will transport you to Sakura Castle.
  • You can also use a Dimensional Mirror to get back to Sakura Castle.
  • There is a string of 16 quests that the player has to complete to figure out what’s going on at Sakura Castle. Each quest gives the player EXP rewards.
  • When you defeat the boss, Gigatoad, he will drop boxes for each class with a level 60-70 item inside. The boss also drops a secret recipe. You also have a chance to get the Musashi Hat.
    • Musashi Hat: Req Lv. 75, STR/DEX/INT/LUK +4, DEF/M.DEF +50, 10 upgrades, unhammered.
  • You will receive a Cherry Moon Samurai medal when you complete all of the Sakura Castle quests.
    • Cherry Moon Samurai: Req Lv. 75, STR/DEX/INT/LUK +3, Max HP/MP +230, DEF/M.DEF +50, untradeable.

Changes from previous versions

When Sakura Castle replaced Kaede/Ninja Castle, the entire series of maps was replaced. The outside was given two new areas with monsters, the inner walls of the castle became linear, the maze through the castle was replaced by a linear progression of maps, the jump quest was removed, and all of the monsters were made easier (to fit within the 70-80 level range).

Note that Crusader Codex cards from Ninja Castle are shared by the Sakura Castle versions of those monsters, so if you finished the set previously, it is still completed. It is now much easier to complete the set, since Kacchuu Musha (now Sakura Samurai) was replaced by a normal monster version and castellan/Emperor (now Daimyo) was replaced by an instanced area that always spawns the boss. Players no longer have to wait for spawn timers to kill these monsters. Also: Sakura Toads drop Daimyo cards.

Quests

For more details on quests for this area, see MapleStory/Theme Dungeon quests#Sakura Castle.
  • Unprovoked Crow Attack: at Sakura Castle: Sakura Castle Outskirts (the entrance to the Theme Dungeon and west of Sakura Castle) you will meet Hamadaya. He will ask you to kill 30 Thief Crows (these are level 72). After completing the quest, he will disappear, as he has moved to the castle gates with the other citizens.
  • A Secret Request: Hamadaya will ask you to collect 20 Kappa's Poison Pouches from the Sakura Kappa (Lv. 73) because they are threatening the denizens of Sakura Castle. Sakura Kappas can be found on the east side of Sakura Castle.
  • The Merchant's Daughter: talk to Akai for this quest. You tell her about what you did for Hamadaya and she tells you that he duped you into helping him do evil things. The Sakura Kappa are the town's guardians. She tells you to find Nobuo.

  • Entering Sakura Castle: talk to Sasuke again for this quest. Sasuke lets you in because you mention Nobuo. He gives you Sai's Steel Throwing-Knives to give to Sai. Enter the portal next to him to reach Sakura Castle: Sakura Castle Garden 1. Talk to Sai, who is hanging up on the wall, to give him the knives.
  • A Strange Truth: talk to Sai for this quest. He wants you to "spy" on the Genin. Kill 100 Sakura Genin (Lv. 74). Talk to Sai to complete.

  • Destroying the Barrier: talk to Fuji again for this quest. Go up to the fifth floor. Kill Sakura Samurai (Lv. 78) and collect 70 Broken Tatemono. Turn in the quest on the portal barrier (the one with glowing chains and a frog face).
  • Defeat the Gigatoad!: go back to Fuji on the third floor or use the lightbulb over your head to accept. Prepare for a very difficult and long fight for players 70-80. Bring high level friends to make it easy. Return the Gigatoad Coin Purse to Princess Suzume when you're done. You have completed the Sakura Castle theme dungeon!
