If you try to leave Sandgem Town immediately, Dawn/Lucas will stop you in a grassy patch just outside of Sandgem Town, and demand you say goodbye to your mom before you leave on your journey. Do so, then come back to the same spot. She will give you a Pokémon catching tutorial, then you can go on your way.

Dawn/Lucas will be waiting for you at the entrance and he will bring you to Professor Rowan's lab where you'll bump into Barry again who briefly describes Rowan and then he darts off. Lucas/Dawn then takes you inside to talk to Rowan. Rowan takes a look at your Pokémon and says that you have a bond with it and let's you keep it. He also gives you a Pokédex.

Sandgem Town

Sandgem Town is the second town you find on your journey. It is home to Professor Rowan, Dawn/Lucas, and Dawn's/Lucas's younger sister. Also found here are two things a beginning trainer will find essential; a Pokémon Center and a Poké Mart.

Arrival[edit]

Dawn/Lucas will be waiting for you at the entrance and he will bring you to Professor Rowan's lab where you'll bump into Barry again who briefly describes Rowan and then he darts off. Lucas/Dawn then takes you inside to talk to Rowan. Rowan takes a look at your Pokémon and says that you have a bond with it and let's you keep it. He also gives you a Pokédex.
