Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings/Holy Roman Emperor: Difference between revisions

Frederick Barbarossa, after being elected the Holy Roman Emperor, attempts to force the squabbling German fiefdoms into his Holy Roman Empire, which he then must defend from the invasions and manipulations of the Italian city states and the pope in Rome.

Barbarossa 1

Objectives: Place 4 Relics at your Monastery

This is very easy. Eliminate 2 enemies at the start. A better Choice is Burgundy and Bohemia. Then After Defeating the two enemies, see if there Monastery has a relic. Remember: to Bring a monk with you when trying to defeating these two enemies because they sometimes have relics in there monastery. (note: if Monastery has a flag on top there is a Relic). Train some Teutonic Knights, as these units are better when attacking enemy buildings. Also, when you get near the east of the map, there is a small Mongol force. They will join you for 200 gold. I advice taking the chance and using their siege onagers to make havoc on groups of enemies. (Don't use near your Units) When you're near the goal, remember to defend your base.

Barbarossa 2

Objectives: Defeat Poland and Henry the Lion

Another easy mission you start with a small force of units best choice is to train as many siege and offensive units. you have 2 tributary allies Saxony and Bavaria and Henry the lion (This guy does not even help you) When you have almost defeated Poland Henry the Lion will Betray you so you have to defeat Henry the lion (best idea is to put some Teutonic knights and some rams at his castle at the beginning) after you defeat Henry the lion you get some villagers at a wall enclosure to the west (well best to defeat Poland Earlier and kill Henry later) you can even use the tributes to Defeat Poland quickly.

Tips: Attacking Poland Early may give best and results bring rams to destroy those castles TC: Garrison some Pike men on the Rams so they can move faster

Barbarossa 3

Objectives: Convert the Cathedral in Milan

A very long mission for some, but also very easy when you are an expert. Now, you start with some troops and 4 priests. You should take care of Crema and convert a handful of Villagers (3 is enough) and build a base where you first started. Then gather more resources and start the offensive. (Quickly Advance to the Next Age) The river guard is a major problem, so take care of them when you got some Trebuchets. Knock out all of their towers using them. Always remember to bring a suitable force to defend and attack with the Trebuchets. These are good in long range, so you can get to it. After you take care of the river Guard, establish a defensive settlement and train many Paladins and Crossbowman and you can take care of Milan easily

Tips: Upgrade a lot to improve your Army, bring Monks always, Milan Trains Infantry, Hand Cannons and bombards (sometimes)

Barbarossa 4

Objectives: Build a Wonder in the walls of Verona, Padua, or Venice

This mission in very hard you have enemies surrounding you so be offensive. Now at the start you fort is under attack by Padua so move what Forces you got to the Transport Ships and move them to the west river there you will get a substantial force of war galleys and some transports filled with troops send them to the north of the map where you have some outpost there build a base then train some cavalry and monks then quickly attack Padua's base send knights and some of your onagers and start a all out offensive on Padua get some trebuchets and knock out the towers and start on destroying Padua's Economy but first take out the military the stable and the castle Enemy Trebuchets are a big problem so make sure you make a opening on the wall so that you can send some troops to take out those trebuchets when you have driven Padua off the Base start build a wonder in side those walls try building at the center.

there is another optional way you could take out Venice's defense on a island near the Main Land (this is the island with only 2 bombard towers and three houses) by upgrading chemistry and focusing on the sea rather than land build many Galleons and some Fire Ships then make some Bombard ships and attack the isle there are many and when you take out the castle build the wonder quickly by send all of the villagers to work on that.
