Below is a list of known information about Diamond and Pearl. The information is listed in chronological order of release.

• Diamond and Pearl are set in the new region of Shinou. The professor is called Nanakamado
• You are capable of transfering Pokemon from Pokemon GBA games to Diamond and Pearl. Cross-generation trading with Diamond and Pearl have similar rules to the cross-gen. trading from RBY to GSC. You cannot trade any pokemon with newer attacks, or new pokemon over to RSE
• There will be no new types, but new type combinations
• Diamond and Pearl features the Day/Night cycle, but it is more advanced than the Day/Night cycle of Gold and Silver
• The pokedex now features weight comparison. The height and wweight comparisons allow you to input your own height and weight in and compare it to the pokemon's
• The new device, The Poketchi, looks similar to a watch and has 20 different features
• Voice chat over Wi-Fi connection
• The Pokemon sprites vary between male and female
• Diamond and Pearl will have a snowy area. Thats a first for weather in Pokemon games
• Shinou has an underground world. The underground world of shinou appears to be a co-operative area where you link up with a friend over wireless and WiFi and search for Items, Pokemon and Fossils. The underground area is where the secret bases are situated. There is a game called flag retrieval where you are required to go to a friends base and retrieve their flag. There are many obstacles along the way to slow you down or stop stop on that route.
• The new criminal organization in Dimaond and Pearl is Team Galaxy
• The leader of Team Galaxy is called Mars
• Unlike in previous pokemon RPG, the starting pokemon of Diamond and Pearl will be Fighting/Psychic/Dark types (The previous info has been rendered incorrect with the release of the starters. They starters make up the same type triangle as the other games. This Information will be subject to deletion in the near future)
• The battle tower returns with global WiFi battling in a Special WiFi battle room.
• There is a global trade center where you can meet up with anyone online around the globe and trade pokemon
• There are contests in Diamond and Pearl similar to those in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald but with a few additions. These contest are called super contest's. The three categories are Visual, Dance and Performance. The first round, Visual, is similar in aspect to the first round of R,S,E games with the exception that you have to physically dress your pokemon. It does not depend on the pokemon's luster. The second round, dance, is where the pokemon you have entered into the contest is either the main singer or one of the backround singers based on it's performance on the last round. In this round you get rated on your rhythm and co-ordination with the music of the moment. To control this you press four buttons on the touch screen to the music when instructed. The final round runs the exact same as the main round of the Hoenn games
• There will be a replacement for Pokeblocks called Pofin (or Pokebread as it will be called in America). Pofin is made by blending berries you find in the game
• There are two new Poke Balls known, the Health Ball and the Dark Ball. The health ball heals a Pokemon's health after it has been caught and the Dark Ball makes it easier to catch Pokemon in dark places such as caves or at night time
• Shinou has 30 routes. Bringing the grand total to 230 routes
• Misdreavus and Murkrow evolve with the Dark Stone. Togetic and Roselia evolve with the Light Stone
• When Pokemon hatch from eggs, the starting level is now level 1
• There is an item that tells you what Pokemon are in the area
• You only need to see all 150 Shinou Dex Pokemon to obtain the national Pokedex
