Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Sunyshore City
Sunyshore City is the home to the eighth and final gym leader Volkner. It's also the pathway to Victory Road and is another port city that has a lighthouse and even has its own Seal market.
Stranger alert![edit]
Immediately after you enter Sunyshore, a guy with red hair comes up to you and senses that you are tough through your aurora. He then introduces himself as Flint, a member of the Elite Four. He will ask you to give Volkner a challenge to try and reignite his passion for battle. You will not find Volkner at his gym so you will have to head over to the Vista Lighthouse and speak to him.
Vista Lighthouse[edit]
Volkner is at the top of the lighthouse and says that if you are weak then he will challenge the Pokémon League so he can enjoy the thrill of battling again!
The only other thing to do here is to look through the binoculars and see the Pokémon League.

Sunyshore Market[edit]
The market has the biggest selection of seals which you can put on your Poké Balls. In order to buy the seals you will need the Seal Case obtained from the person in the house next to Solaceon Town.
There is also a lady here who will give you an effort ribbon for each Pokémon that has 510 EVs in your party.

Ribbons for a story[edit]
The house is the northeast corner is home to Julie. She has been waiting for her husband to return home from sea for a while and she is lonely. She insists that you stop by every day to tell her a story. In exchange, you will get one ribbon a day

Pokétch developer[edit]
The house north of the lighthouse which can be reach with Rock Climb is home to a Pokétch developer who was given the ok by the Pokétch company to develop original Pokétch apps.
If you show him a Pokémon with a Serious nature, you will get the Calendar app where you can set monthly reminders. If you show him a Pokémon with a Naive nature, you will get the Dot Artist app where you can draw your own creativity. If you show him a Pokémon with a Quirky nature, you will get the Roulette app which is self explanatory.

Beacon badge[edit]
The eighth and final gym is yet another complex puzzle that you must surpass to challenge Volkner. The puzzle is a series of button and gear puzzles that, as you go, rise in complexity. In the first area, go onto the right sectio and step on the green button. Get off that section and go to the other one. Step on the green button there to move the sections again so you can battle School Kid Tiera and head into the next room.
In the second room, head onto the left small section and repeatedly step on the blue switch until your section connects with the one to the right of it. Head back onto the main floor, up the flight of stairs and the newly placed bridge and face School Kid Forrest. Then go onto the section next to Forrest and step on the next blue switch which will connect you to the section to the right with a green switch, which in turn will bring you to Guitarist Jerry and another stairway and bridge which will bring you to Poké Kid Meghan and the doorway to the next room.
In the third and final room, you can face Guitarist Lonnie right away the head to the section with the red switch. Once the middle section is connected to the left section, walk off the section you are on, and walk onto the middle section and walk onto the next switch until you can face Ace Trainer Destiny. Go up the stairs, over the bridge, and up the next stairs to face Guitarist Preston. Go onto the section near Preston and step on the green switch twice so you can walk over to the blue switch to the southeast. Step on the blue switch once and head north and down the stairs to face Ace Trainer Jerry and then cross the bridge to the first level. Now, step on the right red switch, and then head back up the right stairs and follow the path to Volkner.

Gym leader battle[edit]
Volkner carries a variety of Pokémon. Use Ground-type moves to easily get his Luxray and Raichu off your back, and any Grass-type attack to rid yourself of his Octillery. In short, you can make quick work of 75% of his Pokémon using Torterra, if you chose Turtwig as your starter. Whether your starter is weak against any of Volkner's Pokémon or not, you should have a team of Pokémon with all sort of types by now so beating Volkner should be easy if your team is lvl 45+. Your team should consist of a Ground-type, a Fighting-type, an Electric-type, a Dark/Ghost-type, and a Ghost/Flying-type. If you dont want to strategize then just use your new Palkia/Dialga for a quick battle.

Once you beat Volkner you will then be able to use HM07 Waterfall outside. Strange thing is that you don't have Waterfall yet so where do you get it?
Heading to the Pokémon League[edit]
Head to the beach in Sunyshore City and you find a familiar face if you played Gold, Silver and Crystal. Jasmine, a gym leader in Johto is on the beach and will give you HM07 Waterfall then she wishes you luck at the Pokémon League.
The water next to the beach goes to Route 223 which is your next destination
