This is the default controls for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk:

  • A button: Normal attack.
  • B button: Power/finish attack.
  • C button: Jump/recover/get on a horse.
  • Z button: Block.
  • Neutral nunchuk: Move. Tap twice to run.
  • Minus button: Heroes arts.
  • Swing Remote button: Basara arts.
  • 1 button: Taunt/Ally assist attack ability.
  • Neutral nunchuk+B button: Second ability.
  • Z button+B button: Third ability.
  • A button+B button: Fourth ability.
  • A button+B button+Z button: Super arts when unlocked.
  • Plus button: Pause game.

This is the default controls for the Classic Controller Pro:

  • L button: Guard/block/parry. Use Neutral lstick to strafe.
  • X button: Normal attack.
  • Y button: Power/finish attack.
  • A button: Basara arts.
  • B button: jump/recover/get on a horse.
  • Neutral lstick/Neutral dpad: Move. Tap twice to run.
  • Neutral rstick: Move camera.
  • Minus button: Taunt/Ally assis attack ability.
  • Plus button: Pause game.
  • Neutral lstick+X button: Second ability.
  • R button: Third ability.
  • L button+X button: Fourth ability.
  • Zl button+A button: Ultimate Basara Arts.
  • Zl button: Heroes arts.
  • Zr button: Super arts when unlocked.

You can also play with the normal classic controller with the shoulder buttons slightly differ from the pro version. Experiment with different controllers to see which will suit your playing style.
