This is the default controls for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk:
: Normal attack.
: Power/finish attack.
: Jump/recover/get on a horse.
: Block.
: Move. Tap twice to run.
: Heroes arts.- Swing
: Basara arts. 
: Taunt/Ally assist attack ability.- +: Second ability.
- +: Third ability.
- +: Fourth ability.
- ++: Super arts when unlocked.
: Pause game.
This is the default controls for the Classic Controller Pro:
: Guard/block/parry. Use 
to strafe.
: Normal attack.
: Power/finish attack.
: Basara arts.
: jump/recover/get on a horse.- /
: Move. Tap twice to run. 
: Move camera.
: Taunt/Ally assis attack ability.
: Pause game.- +: Second ability.

You can also play with the normal classic controller with the shoulder buttons slightly differ from the pro version. Experiment with different controllers to see which will suit your playing style.
