RollerCoaster Tycoon is a simulation strategy video game that simulates theme park management in a variety of different settings. Developed by Chris Sawyer and published by Hasbro Interactive, it was released on March 31, 1999 and later ported to the X-Box by Frontier Developments and published by Infogrames Entertainment in March 25, 2003. This is the first game in the RollerCoaster tycoon series.
Each scenario has an objective that usually involves reaching a certain amount of guests or having a high park value in a certain number of in-game years. There are a wide variety of customizable rides from gentle carousels to towering roller coasters for guests to enjoy themselves. Players will have to manage food stands, bathrooms, scenery, and the staff to keep the needs of their guests fulfilled and their park in optimal condition.
It's considered one of the highest-selling PC games of 1999, earning it a reputation among other strategy titles, an X-Box port and two expansion packs: Corkscrew Follies (known as Added Attractions in the EU region) and Loopy Landscapes.
