Oakvale (Prologue)

Get a Birthday Present for Your Sister

You start in your hometown of Oakvale where your father informs you that you must get a present for your sister. Since you have no money, he is willing to give you 1 gold for any good deed in the town. Of course, you also have the option of doing bad deeds for the money. You need 3 gold to get the box of chocolates from the trader. Keep in mind that whenever you do a bad deed, everyone will quickly find out about it and the guards will pull you aside to scold you. At this point, they won't do anything besides list your offenses.

Good Deeds (1 Gold Each) Informing the woman near the weapons shop of her cheating husband Watch the crates for the trader near the warehouses (Stay between stacks of crates) Beat up the bully (Boy gives you teddy bear) Give teddy bear back to little girl

Bad Deeds (1 Gold Each) Take the cheating husband's bribe (You can tell his wife anyway) Smash the barrels inside the warehouses Beat up little boy (Gives you teddy bear) Give teddy bear to bully Attack random people/guards (no money gained)

When you have the 3 gold, talk to the merchant with the chocolates, and then talk to your sister. Leave the field and a cutscene depicting the destruction of your town by bandits will begin.

Heroes Guild Training (Child)

Requirements for advancement
Guild Training part 1
Guild Beetle Extermination
Melee Combat Test
Optional quests and activities
Racing the Loud Mouth
Red Apples

After that's done, Guildmaster will ask if you are ready to continue training or would like to explore the Guild some more. It is recommended that you explore the Guild more to get some more gold. If you choose to continue, skip over to the next section. If you do stay, find the two apprentices that are arguing about a running contest. Accept his challenge. Run to the Demon Door (purple spot at the bottom of the mini-map) and talk to him. If you manage this in less than 50 seconds, he'll give you some gold. If you talk to him again, you can declare yourself the fastest apprentice in the Guild, but he'll just make a stupid comment.

This section is a stub. Help us expand it, and you get a cookie.

Heroes Guild Training (Teenager)

Go to the melee ring and you'll receive the Iron Longsword. Attack Whisper as directed, and hold the block button during the second round. On the third round, you just have to defeat Whisper, who isn't very difficult. Follow Guildmaster to the archery range where he'll give you the Yew Longbow. Shoot all 3 targets to continue. On the next round, you have to make a high enough score while shooting moving targets. Follow him to the island with the waterfalls and you'll learn the Lightning spell. Fire lightning at a target, then fire at several targets within a 30 second time limit. Once again, Guildmaster will ask if you want to continue your training or do more mini-quests. If you want to continue, skip to the next section. Go to the Guild Woods with Whisper and you will discover some bandits across the river. Kill them all with your bow. If you want a few good points and a blueberry pie, take the cooking apples to the lady in the kitchens. Near the door leading back inside, an apprentice will pay 5 gold for every sparrow you kill. You will need your bow for this. You will also need to go up a few stairs. Evil points gained for every sparrow killed. Before you talk to Guildmaster, you can go to Maze's quarters to trigger a special cutscene.

Heroes Guild Training (Adult)

Go to the Guild Woods and fight Maze. The is an incredibly easy fight because he'll tell you what to do. After a brief ceremony, you'll inducted as a full-fledged Hero and can explore the world to do as you please. After you step into the green portal, Guildmaster will teach you about experience spending and your training will be officially over. Quest Rewards

  • Full Set of Villager Clothes
  • Guild Seal
  • Lamp
  • Apple Pie
  • Health Potion
  • Mana Potion

Wasp Infestation

On your way to the Picnic Area, you will see a bully picking on a beggar. You can intervene or go straight to the quest area.

Help the Beggar: Either punch or fart at the bully (+Good Points) Help the Bully: Either punch or burp at the beggar (+Evil Points)

When you reach the picnic area, all you have to do is kill the wasps. If you're going as an evil character, you can also kill the fleeing villagers to balance out the good points you receive from wasp killing. After the wasps are dead, a new foe will show up.
BOSS: Wasp Queen The Wasp Queen is not very difficult at all. She only has two moves, spinning around to sting (unblockable) and spinning around to fire more wasps at you. When you kill those wasps, either attack her with your sword, or stay back and shoot her with arrows. She'll go down very quickly. Quest Rewards

  • Wasp Queen Head (Trophy)
  • Money
  • Renown

After you're done killing wasps, you can find some items lying on the picnic tables that are free for the taking. (No evil points)

Talk to Maze in Bowerstone South

Go to the tavern and talk to Maze. Pretty straight forward, really.

Bowerstone South

Bowerstone South is one of the few areas that do not allow you to bring weapons. This doesn't stop you from starting trouble, but you should be careful about it since you won't be able to actually kill any guards that are called in to attack you. You also will not be able to go into Bowerstone North at this point. There are a few mini-Quests that you can take. Link titleLink title===Mushrooms Quest=== At some point, a little girl will walk up to you ask you to follow her. Go ahead and do it. Her mother will tell about her son's catatonic state and will ask you to talk to the witch in Bowerstone Quay. The witch will tell you that she needs 4 Blue Mushrooms to make a cure. Here are their locations:

  • Guild Woods. Either kill the man or deliver his letter to Myra of Oakvale. She'll give you a letter to take to him. Do so and he'll give you the mushroom. You can also claim the first letter as your own.
  • Heroes Guild. Use a fishing rod on the ripples near the Demon Door.
  • Picnic Area. Either kill the woman or use expressions to invoke a sickening laugh from her. And the mushroom.
  • Barrow Fields. Either buy the mushroom for 1000 gold or snatch it from the table. If you steal it, the owner will call the guards.

Give the mushrooms to the witch and she'll "find" a cure that she had lying around. Give the cure to the mother. Quest Reward

  • 2000 Gold

School Book Quest

Mr. Gout, the school teacher, is quite dismayed over the latest budget cuts for the school, taking away most of the books. He would like more books for the class. There are two conflicting rewards for this quest, a Bright Will User's Hat and a Dark Will User's Hat. If you want the Bright hat, take "good" books found in the Heroes Guild (It's not really stealing since those are meant for taking. Plus, they replenish) and give those to him. If you want the Dark hat, steal "bad" books from every house in Bowerstone and Oakvale. The only way to truly complete this quest is to give him every possible book. Quest Reward

  • Silver Key

Hero Doll Quest

This quest is activated when you get your first Hero doll, which are given when you make high scores in pub games. A boy from the school will ask you about collecting them and the teacher having a rare one. Here are the locations of each doll:

  • Briar Rose. Bowerstone Tavern, Concentration
  • Whisper. Oakvale Tavern, Coin Golf
  • Twinblade. Twinblade's Camp, Spot the Addition.
  • Scarlet Robe. Knothole Glade, Card Orders.
  • Thunder. Arena Store, Bought in Shop.
  • You. Bowerstone North, Bought in Shop.
  • Maze. Hook Coast, Shove 'ha Penny.
  • Scythe. Snowspire, Shove 'ha Penny.

Quest Reward

  • Jack of Blades Hero Doll

Fist Fighters Level 1

In Bowerstone Quay after midnight, a group of fistfighters will go to the small circle near the barn. Pay some gold to get in. Keep in mind that there is a mini-meter under the map that shows how many hits you can take before you lose.
Quest Reward

  • Gold
  • Fist Fighters Level 1 Badge (Required for Level 2 Entry)

Orchard Farm Quest

This is the first quest with a real choice between good and evil. Farmer Isiah will pay you to protect the mysterious stones of plot significance from bandits, but Lady Grey, the mayor of Bowerstone, offers a higer price to get her hands on them.

Attack Orchard Farm

Possible Boasts

  • Fist Fighter
  • No Protection
  • Without a Scratch
  • Protect Bandits (Don't let any bandits die)

If you're attacking, you will run into Whisper in Greatwood Entrance and says that she's taking the opposite quest. Kill any wasps along the way and just go south. When you reach Orchard Farm, the entrance will be barricaded, but the bandits will blow it open for you. It's best to charge up your ranged weapon and take out one guard before pulling out your melee weapon. Kill the rest of the guards while checking your teammate's health. The Heal Life spell is great here because it heals nearby teammates. One of the bandits will pick up a box and take it to the extraction point. Rinse and repeat. After you have all the stones, Farmer Isiah will beg for mercy and you'll automatically leave.
BOSS: Whisper Whisper will arrive to stop you. She learned a few moves and has bombs, but just roll or Assassin Rush behind her and you'll be fine.
Quest Rewards

  • 1000 Gold
  • Renown
  • Whisper's Brooch (Trophy)

Defend Orchard Farm

Possible Boasts

  • Fist Fighter
  • No Protection
  • Without a Scratch
  • Protect Guards (Don't let any guards die)
  • Protect Boxes (Don't let any boxes get stolen)
  • No Healing (Complete Quest without using healing items or spells)

If you're defending, Whisper will appear in Greatwood entrance to tell you that she's taking the opposite Quest. Unlike the attack Quest, you need to go west to Greatwood Gorge and then go into Orchard Farm from there. The normal entrance is blocked by a barricade. Just like the attack Quest, however, it's best if you start charging your bow to begin with and shoot down one bandit. If you've taken the Protect Boxes boast, it's okay if a bandit gets a hold of a box, just as long as he doesn't get it to the extraction point. Protect the farm against a few waves of bandits and Farmer Isiah will be quite grateful.
BOSS: Whisper This is the exact same battle as in the attack Quest.
Quest Rewards

  • Gold
  • Renown
  • Whisper's Brooch (Trophy)
