Template:ConsoleInfo The Nintendo Entertainment System is an 8-bit system that was released in various countries, including the United States of America. The Japanese rendition of the NES is named the Nintendo Family Computer, which is often shortened to Nintendo Famicom.

The manufacturer was Nintendo, and it was first released in 1983 in Japan. It used a cartridge system, and had two controller slots. It acquired numerous peripheral devices like the Power Glove. It was the precursor to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

There was a redesign of this system, known as the AV Famicom (Famicom was the name of the NES in Japan, Famicom meaning Family Computer) or the Top Loading NES. This NES is much more expensive then the original NES now.
