More than a Strategy (a group of sistematic Actions) , is a Tactic (A method).

When a player fails into an early or middle engagement and his army size gets reduced (Workers or Buildings

aswell) or when a player is getting a slower performance than the enemy, the match will become an "Asimetric War"

and here is when the guerrilla tactics are most usefull. The Guerrilla has 3 very important aspects. Avoid

open ground combat, terrain advantage and coordination between bases. The Guerrilla tactics are in fact a natural

way to play Starcraft for most players and can also be considered a harrassing style of play.

The Guerrilla main philosophy and first important aspect is to avoid open ground combat in order to prevent more

army loses (in case of an asimetric war) or to gain time to get more ground control, population and technology . In exchange , the player will operate

in small groups, making fast and sorpresive attacks to get tactical objectives and to split the enemy army size, compostion and attention.

This means that the enemy has to be hostigated constantly until he start to lose ground control, army

size, infrastructure, economy or just get demoralized. The enemy will be forced to engage you all-in or deal with the

constant harrass and give you time to match his army size and composition for later.

The second important aspect of the Guerrilla, is the use of the terrain to your own advantage. Making the access to

your ground difficult to the enemy, protecting and blocking tactical regions or bases in the Map. In Starcraft the

Zerg race is to be considered the most guerrilla friendly, especially becouse they swarm the ground with creep

making the terrain more to their advantage, also using Tunnels between bases to have a better coordination with

differents targets.

Terran and Protoss generally engage guerrilla style tactics with the use of Dropships or Shuttles for their great

mobility , they can work in small and fast groups in air or ground, but the zerg have plenty speed, cost efficiency, the Creep and the Tunnels, leading us to the third important aspect of the Guerrilla, the good coordination between

different bases.

Once enough time has passed, the Guerrilla War will evolve into a big scale war, or conventional (macro) war by

having enough power to deal the enemy in his own territory.

In Starcraft, Guerrilla tactics can be used in any stage of the match and can be also reffered as micro play,

multitasking, cheesing, drops, overcommiting.
