Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, also called Castlevania: Nocturne in the Moonlight in some regions and often abbreviated SotN, was the first Castlevania game released by Konami for the PlayStation and started the new style of Castlevania games known as "Metroidvanias", which were action-adventures rather than traditional platformers.
The main protagonist is Alucard, son of Dracula, and ally of Trevor Belmont 347 years earlier (in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse). SotN is a direct sequel to Demon Castle Dracula X: Reincarnation of Blood, taking place five years later. Dracula's castle has mysteriously returned ahead of schedule and the Belmont on Vampire Killer duty has vanished. The imbalance in the forces of evil awakens Alucard from his eternal slumber, who sets off to investigate.
