Sagat worked his way up the fighting championship ladder all his life, and enjoyed a long stay at the top as an unbeatable force… until the day he faced a young inexperienced warrior named Ryu. Towering over the determined fighting, victory was within Sagat's grasp, an inconsequential victory to add on to a list of hundreds, but it was stolen away from him. He couldn't be sure, but he sensed an inhuman power awake in the boy, and the skin on his chest was cut wide open by a force exerted by Ryu when he performed a dragon punch that knocked Sagat out cold. Broken and defeated, not just in his body, but also in his mind, he accepted M. Bison's offer to be a personal body guard with no other direction to turn. But inside, he focused constantly on the day when he would meet and rematch Ryu and prove once and for all who the better fighter really is.

Normal Sagat plays like his Street Fighter Alpha versions, but he lacks the Tiger Cannon Super Combo. On the other hand, Extra Sagat plays very must like his Super Street Fighter II iteration, but with the addition of not only the regular Tiger Cannon super, but also a Ground Tiger Cannon which he gained in the Street Fighter EX series. When he returns in Capcom vs. SNK 2, he keeps his Alpha motions while gaining access to all four Super Combos.

Pro version changes

  • The disparity between Sagat's fast and slow Tiger Shots has been increased.
  • Extra Sagat combo into a Super Combo after the second hit of his standing Arcade-Button-HKick.png in addition to the first hit. This allows for jumping Arcade-Button-HKick.png, standing Arcade-Button-HKick.png double hit, level 3/MAX Tiger Cannon super for a lot of damage.
  • Sagat's Tiger Uppercut has improved priority, speed, and recovery time.
  • The first hit of Sagat's Tiger Crush knocks down the opponent even if the second hit misses.
