There is no Remoraid in Pokémon Crystal, so there's no point asking Wilton to keep you posted on swarm activity. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't trade phone numbers anyway. Wilton will call you in the future when he fishes up Poké Balls and other items.

There are quite a few Trainers on Route 44, and they're using a variety of Pokémon, including Water-, Flying-, Rock- and Fire-types. You should do very well against all comers if you bring along an Electric-type and a Water-type.

Talk to the Fisherman[edit]

This area, east of Mahogany, is home to the gun-shaped yet oddly adorable Remoraids in Gold and Silver. And unless you want to spend all day fishing on the off chance that you'll catch one of these bizarre, rare little fish, you'll want to wait for a swarm. Talk to Wilton (in the upper right corner of the right pond) and he'll keep you well-informed about the Remoraid activity.

There is no Remoraid in Pokémon Crystal, so there's no point asking Wilton to keep you posted on swarm activity. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't trade phone numbers anyway. Wilton will call you in the future when he fishes up Poké Balls and other items.

Rare Grass Pokémon Aplenty[edit]

The thin strip of grass in this area is easy to miss, its hidden in the middle and requires Surf to reach.

Make sure to explore far and wide since this area has a super-rare item Max Revive, and is the only place you'll ever find a Lickitung.

Pure Grass type Tangelas are one of the best Grass types you can find in Johto and you should take the chance to catch and level one up. Also this is the only location in Johto to find one. They will always be level 23.

More common Grass types will be found here also such as Bellsprout and evolution Weepinbell

#108 Lickitung #114 Tangela
Pure Normal type Lickitung follows the trend of other Normal types by having good HP and using Defense and Special Defense for its main stats. Has pretty low Attack stat and lower Speed.

Now starts with the Ghost type move Lick, which is the sort of thing you'd expect it had all along, yet strangely did not. Other than that, nothing much has changed since the days of Red/Blue/Yellow.

Its moves are nothing amazing learning Supersonic, Defense Curl, first Physical Attack at level 19 which is Stomp, then Wrap, Disable, second Physical Attack Slam at level 37 then lastly Screech at level 43.

There are stronger Normal-Type Pokémon around, catch one of these now and tick off your Pokédex then put it into the box.

Pure Grass type Tangela is located only in this Route in Johto. It's main stat is Defense followed closely by Special Attack. This is good as its Grass type attacks will hit pretty hard.

Early moves it learns are Sleep Powder at level 4, Absorb at level 10, Poison Powder, Vine Whip at level 19, Bind at level 25 then the harder hitting Grass type move Mega Drain which is similar to Absorb but better. Finally gets Normal type move Slam at level 40

Tangela naturally learns better moves than Bellsprout which should be replaced now you have Tangela. There are many locations that make it easy to level up in Johto such as Route 42 waters, Route 45. Can learn HMs Cut and Flash as well as useful TMs like Giga Drain, Sunny Day and Solar Beam.

#223 Remoraid
Remoraid Remoraid is an unusually versatile Pokémon. At level 22 it suddenly learns Psybeam, Aurora Beam, and Bubble Beam. If you evolve it into tank-ish Octillery at level 25 it learns Octazooka and gets better stats, but loses its Speed.
