As you approach your rival will battle you:

• Rival:
  • Gastly (lvl. 12, 243 EXP)
  • Zubat (lvl. 14, 162 EXP)
  • Croconaw (lvl. 16, 489 EXP) /Quilava/Bayleef and File:Pokébuck.png960

Now you need to find the apprentice to get HM01, go north east, talk to him, now to get the Farfetch'd you need to go south and follow the path and talk to the Pokémon, follow it and talk until it goes to the Apprentice, the master will be there and will give you CUT!

Now teach Cut to a Pokémon, and cut down the tree to the north and east of the apprentice. Just beyond it, you will see the shrine to the protector of the Forest. Make your way around the woods. There are many Items that you can't see here, so press A at any dead ends to see if there is an Item there. The green-haired kid in the woods will give you TM02 (Headbutt) if you talk to him. There is a gate house at the northern end of the Forest leading to Route 34. Inside, a lady behind a counter will give you Sweet Scent (TM12).
