Start by talking to the person looking at the sign at the Lake of Rage, then go to the store in Mahogany Town. Lance will open the stairs.

Go down, prepare for 2 battles and go into the range of the statue.  Either go West for more battles or down to trip the switch to stop them.  The grunts will be exactly the same as the 2 you just faced, so if you want some EXP face them. After fighting them, go to the south then south again, follow the corridor round to the left and face the scientist (the item behind him is a Guard. Spec). Press A at the computer, that will turn off the annoying statues.

If you go North-East, there will be a Hyper Potion, and then go South-East for a Nugget.  Go west then down the stairs for the next part, the patch will take you back to the start and you can catch Pokémon on the black and white tiles. On the 2nd black tile from the bottom there is a hidden Revive in the middle. The grunt at the north of the tiles isn't that powerful, but you might want to face him for the EXP.

'''Team Rocket supposedly disbanded three years ago, but it seems they're back! They're conducting a cruel experiment that is filling the Lake of Rage with Gyarados. After you capture or defeat the red Gyarados, a Trainer named Lance will ask for your help against Team Rocket.'''

Now when you are down the stairs, go to Lance, he will heal your Pokémon for you. Go forward and you will face a grunt, there is another grunt to face (or avoid) then go down the stairs.
Team Rocket was behind the mutated Gyarados all along, and Mahogany is a front for their underground plant. If you follow Lance into the Item Shop and down the stairs, you can challenge Team Rocket's leaders and drive them away.

When you go down again, talk to Lance and face Rockets to get the passwords. Only the grunts (not the scientists) have passwords. When you have both of the passwords, go up the north stairs to get some more items (there is a grunt to battle), then go to the room, up the stairs for TM46, then go near the room, talk with your rival, then go in, there will be a battle with the Executive then talk to the Murkrow then go back to where you met Lance, open the door and two Rockets will challenge you, Lance comes round the corner and takes one of then on, take out the other one. Then you have to make the 3 Electrode faint, catch one, if you want, they are Level 23 and give you 492 EXP each, Lance will also give you Whirlpool. Now go to Mahogany Gym.

==Rocket Hideout==
In order to do anything in this small town you will have to go to The Lake of Rage, and talk to Lance who is standing by a sign post. Once you talk to him, follow him to the house with the sign post back in Mahogany Town. It's actually a shop but you won't really be able to get anything until you defeat Team Rocket.

==== Double Rocket ====
Whenever you pass one of the gold Persian statues, a pair of Rockets come dashing out to attack. You can't avoid these fights, and you'll fight the same two Rockets every time (but only the first time you pass each statue).

Go into the shop and Lance will be waiting impatiently for you there, then he will open stairs that lead to Team Rocket's underground hideout. There you two will split up and try to stop what ever is making the radio noise causing the Gyarados frenzy.
However, you can avoid fighting them altogether. Head down into the room in the center of the floor, and use the computer to turn the security system off entirely.

===Level 1===
==== Trip the traps ====
You have two options once you go down the stairs, but first you will have to battle as soon as you pass the first sculpture. Each sculpture is a "hidden camera" when ever you pass one for the first time two rocket members will come out of no where at the same time. After you pass the first one, you can continue all the way to the left then down passed the striped tiles to a stair case next to a warp tile (the warp tile with just take you back to the entrance). These tiles contain ~6 wild Pokemon. Alternatively, you can turn in to the hall just before the second statue. You can avoid the rest of the statues by making it to the shut off switch located on the computer, then avoid the striped tiles by turning right out of the computer room and following that path. But if you want more money and experience points just keep walking in front of the cameras and say cheese!
The off-color floor on the left side is full of pits that force you into fights with {{bp|Voltorb}}, {{bp|Koffing}}, and {{bp|Geodude}}. Like any other fight, you can capture or K.O. the Pokémon, but they won't be back the next time you pass over that same exact tile. Or skip the traps entirely by taking the long way around.

Upon reaching the second level, Lance will be waiting for you to heal all of your Pokemon. On this floor you will see a path with a locked doorway, behind the door way is the power supply for the radio signal, but you will have to keep walking past it and up the stairs to get to the boss's office. Once you are done up stairs then return to this door. Once inside you will meet back up with Lance and a few Rocket members. The two of you will have to battle the {{bp|Electrode}} that are providing the power. Here you will have 3 chances to catch 1 so be sure to save.

On this floor you will finally make it to the boss's office. You will need the two passwords to get in, but don't think you can get by without having fought the Rocket members just because you've read what they are. There's no annoying letter entering here, your character will have to know the passwords to open the door. Once you defeated the boss talk to his bird, it will tell you another password.

Security systems are only as strong as the people who know the passwords, which in this case isn't very strong at all. To get the codes to open up the Team Rocket chief's office, rough up the trainer in the lower left corner of this level, as well as the trainer in the upper left corner of the small computer room within the right side of the building.
You will also meet up with your arch enemy but he will not battle you.
==== Take down Team Rocket's regional commander ====
After you get the passwords, you can reach the commander's room by climbing back up to Level 2 through the upper right staircase, crossing Level to the left, and climbing back down the upper left staircase. Team Rocket supposedly disbanded three years ago, but it seems they're back! They're conducting a cruel experiment that is filling the Lake of Rage with Gyarados. After you capture or defeat the red Gyarados, a Trainer named Lance will ask for your help against Team Rocket.

Team Rocket was behind the mutated Gyarados all along, and Mahogany is a front for their underground plant. If you follow Lance into the Item Shop and down the stairs, you can challenge Team Rocket's leaders and drive them away.

Double Rocket[edit]

Whenever you pass one of the gold Persian statues, a pair of Rockets come dashing out to attack. You can't avoid these fights, and you'll fight the same two Rockets every time (but only the first time you pass each statue).

However, you can avoid fighting them altogether. Head down into the room in the center of the floor, and use the computer to turn the security system off entirely.

Trip the traps[edit]

The off-color floor on the left side is full of pits that force you into fights with Voltorb, Koffing, and Geodude. Like any other fight, you can capture or K.O. the Pokémon, but they won't be back the next time you pass over that same exact tile. Or skip the traps entirely by taking the long way around.

Lance heals your Pokémon[edit]

Lance is waiting for you when you climb the first set of stairs, and he'll happily heal all of your Pokémon, this one time only, before you move on.

Shut down the plant's power generator[edit]

You won't be able to access the large doors near the bottom of Level 2 until you obtain the password from the Murkrow in the Rocket's boss' room on Level 3. Once you do, come back here and save your game; a pair of Rockets will be waiting. After you defeat them, team up with Lance to fight the Electrode that are powering the transmitter that has turned all of those poor Magikarp into Gyarados. The Electrode are fond of Self-Destruct, so you'll need at least three Pokémon that are still in fighting shape.

When the Electrode are gone, the Rockets will disappear from Mahogany, and Lance will reward you with HM 06 (Whirlpool). At this time, return to the Mahogany Town gym and battle Pryce for the Glacier Badge before you continue on your journey.

Find the two passwords[edit]

Security systems are only as strong as the people who know the passwords, which in this case isn't very strong at all. To get the codes to open up the Team Rocket chief's office, rough up the trainer in the lower left corner of this level, as well as the trainer in the upper left corner of the small computer room within the right side of the building.

You will also meet up with your arch enemy but he will not battle you.

Take down Team Rocket's regional commander[edit]

After you get the passwords, you can reach the commander's room by climbing back up to Level 2 through the upper right staircase, crossing Level to the left, and climbing back down the upper left staircase. This guy's Raticate can be tough, so make sure your Pokémon are in fighting shape before you even enter the room. Once you've bested him, talk to his loose-lipped Murkrow to get the password for the Generator Room in the middle of Level 2.
