Once you get out of Petalburg City, you'll come to Route 104 which is a route divided into two halves, with the Petalburg Woods as a divider. This area is primarily a leveling spot, but later we will need to come back and travel south by boat with Mr. Briney to get to Dewford City. First, you should go to the beach and fight all of the Trainers, to gain some valuable Experience Points. Once you've beaten them all, pick the Pecha and Oran Berries from the Berry trees you see. But don't forget to check the beach for the three items hidden here.
Trainers
- Rich Boy Winston (Ruby and Sapphire only, he's in northern section of route 104 in Emerald)

- Lady Cindy (Emerald only, she's in northern section of route 104 in Ruby and Sapphire)
- Zigzagoon (lvl. 7, 90 EXP)

As you move north, you'll be in Petalburg Woods.

Items
- Heart Scale: Found in the sand. Save this item, don't sell it. Later on you will be able to trade it to learn a move from the move tutor.
- Antidote: Found in the sand (left corner of the beach)
- Potion: Also found in the sand (left corner near the boat)
- Pecha Berry ×2
- Oran Berry ×2
- Poké Ball (to the right, through Petalburg Woods)
There are three items that are hidden in the sand that can be found by pressing in front of the last squares on the beach (squares meaning steps). These can be very useful if you can find them all.
