Route #35 leads to the National Park. If you Cut the tree on the upper right, you'll gain access to Route #36. The trainers here have lots of different Pokémon, so you'd better have lots of different Pokémon, too.

Route 35

Prepare for a Yanma swarm

Route #35 is the sole habitat of the Yanma Pokémon. Catching one now is tough, since they only appear in significant numbers when they swarm (Nidoran also appear during Yanma swarms in Crystal). Trade phone numbers with Arnie, and he'll give you a ring when that happens. Then continue on to TM 04 (Rollout).

Another Skittish Guard

Like the guard back in Route #34, the guard outside of the National Park gatehouse will attack anyone who passes by at night. Once again, it seems clear that Growlithe are the Pokémon of choice for law enforcement personnel.

Special delivery

Talk to the guard in the southernmost guard house. He will ask you to take a Pokémon that's holding mail to his friend on Route #31. After you finish the errand, come back to the guard house. The guard will give you HP Up.( If you want to keep that pokemon, you can just catch low level pokemon and transfer the mail from that pokemon to low level pokemon. The guard friend will also receive as long as there is the mail.)

The Mystery of the Mysteryberry

You won't be able to reach the Mysteryberry to the left of the pond just yet, but once you can use Surf ouside of battle, Surf over the water to pick up a Mysteryberry.

#32 Nidoran♂ #29 Nidoran♀
Male Nidoran get powerful early attacks (like Horn Attack at level 8), but not much later in the game. So your best bet is to evolve it into a Nidorino at level 16, then use a Moon Stone to evolve it again before level 23 (when Nidoking learns Thrash).
Like Males, Nidoran females should probably be evolved into Nidoqueen as early as possible. And no, the rumor that you can breed a Nidoking and Nidoqueen to make a super-powerful Pokémon is not true.
#193 Yanma #58 Growlithe
Yanma is one of those Pokémon that you get in order to have, not to use. It has mediocre stats, weak attack moves, and a combination of types (Bug and Flying) that hurts more than it helps.
Growlithe's evolved form, Arcanine, is one of the best Fire Pokémon in the game(some people prefer Charizard). With a third Fire attack (Flame Wheel) and the ability to learn Fire Blast from a TM, it's better than ever.
