Cockpit, Galaxy Map[edit]

After character generation and the opening crawl, you watch the battered freighter with your main character aboard as it drifts towards the ravaged world of Peragus. In its cockpit, a lone Astromech droid is active:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Prologue: [The Ebon Hawk is adrift in space after a terrible battle. Most of its crew are dead or dying.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Prologue: [Name lays in the Medical Room in critical condition. She won't survive long without medical attention.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png Prologue: [Name lays in the Medical Room in critical condition. He won't survive long without medical attention.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Prologue: [The hyperdrive is damaged. Main power must be restored in order to bring the engines online and dock with the nearby Peragus mining station for much needed repairs.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Prologue: [Name's fate, and that of the Ebon Hawk, depend upon T3-M4, a lone Astromech droid.]

[Return to this location at any time to skip the Prologue.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. [Continue the Prologue.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. [Skip the Prologue.]

Before you take control of T3-M4, a message pops up:

Use the left thumbstick to move T3-M4. Swivel the camera with the right thumbstick. Click the right thumbstick to toggle first-person Free Look. Press W, A, S, D (Default) to move T3-M4 and turn. Press Caps Lock (Default) to toggle first-person Free Look. Hold Ctrl (Default) to Look About.

T3-M4 can return to the top right side of the cockpit at any time to Skip Prologue:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Skip Prologue: [Do you want to skip the Prologue?]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. [Continue the Prologue.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. [Skip the Prologue.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Skip Prologue: [Bypassing the Prologue...]

The Galaxy Map is on the bottom left side of the cockpit. If you interact with it:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Galaxy Map: [This is the Galaxy Map. It shows you are near Peragus, a mining colony. When the hyperdrive is fixed you can use the Galaxy Map to choose a destination planet.]

Other than the Ebon Hawk, you can only select Peragus II. However, if you try to travel before completing the prologue:

You are already at that location. The Ebon Hawk cannot dock with the Peragus Mining Facility until main power has been restored.

As you exit the cockpit via the corridor at its bottom end, a few more messages pop up:

KotOR Icon Journal.png Journal Entry Added
KotOR Icon Journal.png
The ACTIVE QUESTS screen includes important information related to your ongoing adventures. Refer to this journal for hints and guidance throughout the game.
[You have new quests. To view your quests, press START to open the Pause Menu and then use the left or right triggers to scroll to the Journal.] [You have new quests. To view your quests, open the Game Menu [Default: ESC] and look in the Journal (Default: J).]
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Save the Ebon Hawk
The Ebon Hawk is heavily damaged and adrift in a dangerous asteroid field. Find the hyperdrive and fix it to restore primary power so that you can dock with the Peragus mining station for repairs.
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Heal Name: Bonus Mission
Name is laying in the med-bay in critical condition. You can use a Medpac to stabilize his/her vitals. To fully revive Name will require the medical facilities at the Peragus mining station.

Even if you Skip Prologue, these quests are completed:

Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Save the Ebon Hawk
You've successfully docked with the Peragus mining station. This facility should be able to revive Name and repair the Ebon Hawk.
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Heal Name: Bonus Mission
The medical facilities at the Peragus mining station will treat Name's injuries.

None of the experience received during the prologue is retained by T3-M4 or your main character after skipping or completing it. If you use the Galaxy Map to travel to Peragus II after you actively save the Ebon Hawk, completing the prologue, then none of the items received remains in Inventory for the later use of your main character and party.

However, if you Skip Prologue instead at this point then all items in inventory remain there: this is likely unintentional (and the Restored Content Mod may change it), but it can be exploited to give you a headstart (albeit unnecessary) on Peragus II.

Communications Console[edit]

After exiting the cockpit, if you interact with the main hold door at the bottom end of the corridor:

[Beyond this door is the main hold of the Ebon Hawk. This door appears to be locked down due to a hull breach. See if there is an emergency override somewhere in the communications room behind you.]

The communications room is back through the doorway in the right side of the corridor:

This room contains a Plasteel Cylinder and the Communications Console. To target one of these objects, move close to it, or use the left or right triggers to cycle through available targets. To interact with an object, first target it and then press A button. This room contains a Plasteel Cylinder and the Communications Console. Item(s) Received Plasteel Cylinder [You will come across many containers, some of which will be locked. The computer spike you just picked up can be used at computer terminals to access functions such as opening doors.]

You can now use this spike to slice the system and open the main hold door:

Main Hold, Security Console[edit]

This is the Main Hold.

The main hold is the central hub of the Ebon Hawk, and all T3-M4 needs to do is cross it and unlock the low security door in the middle of its bottom wall. If you interact with the door:

[While some doors can be bashed open (or cut open with a lightsaber or cutting tool), some doors require the use of the Security skill to open. Use your Security skill from the action bar to open this door.]

Unlocking it allows access to the bottom half of the vertical corridor between the cockpit and engine room, where you'll also find your main character laying in the Medical Room.

There's a red footlocker by the main hold's left wall. If you try to unlock it using the Security skill:

[Your security skill is too low to open this footlocker. However, you can use your weapon to Bash it open. Press up or down on the D-pad to select Bash and then press A button.] [Your security skill is too low to open this footlocker. However, you can use your weapon to Bash it open. Click on the Bash icon or press 1 (Default).]
KotOR Icon Bash.png
Some locked doors and containers can be opened by bashing or blasting them with a weapon until they open. Not all doors or containers can be successfully bashed. To bash an object, select it, then select Bash from the TARGET MENU.

T3-M4's unarmed attacks can inflict 1-4 (2.5 average) bludgeoning damage, so on average four hits should bash it open.

Item(s) Received Footlocker [Sometimes bashing or blowing opening a container will break some of the items in the container. But you can use even broken items. They can be turned into useful components at a workbench.]

These computer spikes can be used to slice the security console in the middle of the main hold:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Security Console: [Failure] Not enough spikes to perform operation. You'll need to search the ship to find more spikes.

You can now access security cameras to look around parts of the Ebon Hawk. You can also access security doors to open and close the outer and inner garage doors, but this is pointless while T3-M4 is alone since a hull breach in the garage prevents both doors being open at the same time.

Lift to Outside the Ebon Hawk[edit]

There's a lift opposite the medical room, in the right wall of the corridor between the main hold and the engine room:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Lift: [This lift will take you to the outer hull of the Ebon Hawk, where you will find many parts and mines to use for accessing and repairing the Hyperdrive. Use the lift controls to go up.]
This is the Utility Lift.

The engine room door is at the bottom end of this corridor, just beyond a junction:

This is the Engine Room.

If you interact with it:

[This door is damaged and cannot be opened with your Security skill, or by bashing it. You will have to find and use an explosive trap to open this door. Take the lift outside the Ebon Hawk to find one.]
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Save the Ebon Hawk
You found the door to the engine room, which contains the hyperdrive you need to fix. The door is sealed shut. You will have to use mines to blow open the door. Look outside the ship to find mines.

Return to the lift and use its controls to go outside:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Lift Controls: [You can use this lift to take you to the outside of the Ebon Hawk.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. [Go outside.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. [Stay here.]

The lift takes T3-M4 up to the middle of the Ebon Hawk's exterior hull, just below its gun turret.

Starboard Outer Hull[edit]

T3-M4 has already started going down a ramp onto the Ebon Hawk's starboard side, to the right of the lift controls.

This is the Starboard side of the Ebon Hawk.

Below the ramp on your right, there's a busted port in the starboard engine:

[This busted engine port has some needed Parts for the Ebon Hawk's hyperdrive. Take the Parts here back down below to get main power restored.] Item(s) Received Engine Port

There's an open hatch in the floor below this port, to your left, another two open hatches out on the starboard side opposite the ramp down, and one more above the ramp, next to the cockpit:

[This open hatch has some Parts that will be useful for getting main power restored.] Item(s) Received Open Hatch (4)
  • Parts

There's also some exposed wiring in the top right of the starboard side:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Exposed Wiring: [These exposed wires control the door to the starboard dormitory. The door is currently sealed, but you can override it from here.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. Do nothing.

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Exposed Wiring: [Success] The door is opened. You can now access the starboard dormitory through the garage. KotORII Icon Dialog.png Exposed Wiring: [Falure] You need a Part. To find Parts, search the Ebon Hawk, inside and out.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Exposed Wiring: [You have already opened the door to the starboard dormitory. You can get to it through the garage inside the Ebon Hawk.]

Port Outer Hull[edit]

As you return to the lift controls from the starboard outer hull:

Don't forget to explore the other side of the Ebon Hawk.

You need to go down a ramp onto the port side:

This is the Port side of the Ebon Hawk.

Proton Missile, Mines[edit]

There's an unstable proton missile embedded in the bottom left of the port side, below the ramp:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Proton Missile: [The bubbles ahead indicate mines that you've detected automatically with your Awareness skill. Some mines require higher Awareness to detect.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Proton Missile: [Approach mines carefully. They will blow up and damage you if you get too close. You can use your Demolitions skill to either Disable or Recover these mines.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Proton Missile: [Recovering mines requires a higher Demolitions skill than disabling them, but you get to keep the mine, which you can then use to set as a trap for enemies, or break down into components at a Workbench.]
Awareness Minor Frag Mine (2) Detect 10 (-10) Demolitions Disable 15 (-5) Recover 25 (5)

Getting too close and triggering these can damage but not kill T3-M4. Otherwise, with Combat Difficulty on Easy or Normal they can be disabled or recovered, but on Difficult they can only be disabled, not recovered. However, one can always be recovered from the proton missile itself:

[You can use the explosive device in this missile to blow open the engine room door inside the Ebon Hawk. This will give you access to the hyperdrive. After you plant a mine, back away quickly so that you do not take damage.] Item(s) Received Proton Missile
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Save the Ebon Hawk
You found a Minor Frag Mine. Use it to blow open the door to the engine room. If you run out of mines, you can get more from the Proton Missile outside the Ebon Hawk.
Experience Points (XP) Received:
  • 100 Found Minor Frag Mine

If T3-M4 sets mines until there are none in Inventory:

If you run out of mines, you can return to the Proton Missile and collect another.

Quadlasers[edit]

There are damaged quadlasers on the top left of the port side, slightly above the ramp.

[This is one of the Ebon Hawk's quadlaser turrets. They are damaged, but you can scavenge some Parts from it to use in repairing the Ebon Hawk.] Item(s) Received Quadlasers

Lift to Inside the Ebon Hawk[edit]

Return to the lift controls in the middle of the outer hull once T3-M4 has at least one Minor Frag Mine from the starboard side, and at least five Parts in Inventory:

Engine Room, Hyperdrive[edit]

Once you have a Minor Frag Mine from the starboard side of the Ebon Hawk's starboard outer hull, you can go back inside to the engine room door at the bottom end of the corridor and use a mine to open it:

[This door is damaged and cannot be opened with your Security skill, or by bashing it. You can use a mine to open this door. Once you plant the mine, back away from the door to avoid taking damage.]

If T3-M4 sets the mine(s) in the corridor until none are in Inventory:

If you run out of mines, you can return to the Proton Missile outside the Ebon Hawk and collect another.

Recover the mine(s), then select the engine room door before using one:

Left-clicking the mouse while a mine is selected in your ACTION MENU will place a mine. You can also disable and recover enemy mines and add them to your own inventory for later use.

T3-M4 takes no damage even if you don't back away, but the blast opens the door. Inside the engine room, the port and starboard engines are to either side:

[The port engine is shut down, but appears intact. Fixing the hyperdrive will allow you to restore power to the port engine and bring primary power online.] [The Starboard engine is badly damaged. Fixing it won't be possible until after docking with the Peragus mining station.]

The hyperdrive is at the bottom end of the engine room:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Hyperdrive: [The hyperdrive is suffering badly. You won't be able to make the jump to lightspeed until it is fully repaired, and you do not have the needed equipment here on the Ebon Hawk.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Hyperdrive: [However, you should be able to rig the hyperdrive to restore primary power and bring the port engine online. This will allow you to dock with the Peragus mining station for full repairs.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. Leave it alone.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. Rig the hyperdrive. [5 Parts needed]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Hyperdrive: [Failure] You do not have enough Parts. Search around the ship to find more Parts. If you can gain access to the Garage, you can use the Workbench there to create Parts.
Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Save the Ebon Hawk
You found the hyperdrive. It is damaged and offline. If you search the ship thoroughly, inside and out, you should be able to find enough repair parts to fix it.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Hyperdrive: [Success] The hyperdrive is online. Primary power is restored.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Hyperdrive: [Only one step remains. Return to the Galaxy Map in the cockpit and travel to Peragus.]

The sensor droids cannot attack or inflict damage. If you attack a sensor droid:

KotOR Icon Bash.png
Whenever you spot an enemy, left-click the selected enemy once to enter combat mode. This will lock the camera on your selected target. Left-clicking the target again causes your character to perform the Default Action and attack each round.
Your chances of hitting a target are controlled by your statistics and behind the scenes combat rolls. Combat is not affected by your aim, your character's movements or the movements of your target.
Remember: Only left-click the targetted enemy ONCE to engage. You will automatically attack your target each round. You do not have to left-click it again until you select a new target.
When engaged in combat you can use the TARGET and ACTION MENUs to activate items, feats and Force powers each round. Otherwise your character will automatically perform their default attack each round.

Sensor droids only have 8 Defense and 1 Vitality, so they're easy to hit and any damage inflicted will destroy them. Once the first group has been destroyed:

[Good work defeating the sensor droids. To continue combat training, open the metal box again and more sensor droids will appear.]

Once a second group has been destroyed:

[You destroyed another group of sensor droids. To continue combat training, open the metal box again.]
Item(s) Received Metal Box - Combat Training
[This box seems to have an infinite supply of sensor balls.]
[You found a grenade in the container. With grenades you can damage multiple enemies at once. To throw a grenade, select the grenade by pressing right or left on the D-pad. Then press A button.] [You found a grenade in the container. With grenades you can damage multiple enemies at once. Grenades can also affect but not kill T3-M4 when in the area of effect. Once a third group has been destroyed, each time you open the metal box you only receive another grenade if there aren't any in Inventory (used, or given to another container in the cargo hold):

[These sensor balls don't leave behind any useful items when you kill them, but many enemies do. After combat, be sure and search your enemies' remains.]

If you open the metal box again once a fourth group has been destroyed:

Port Dormitory[edit]

The corridor outside the cargo hold leads up to a junction: the main hold can be seen at the end of the corridor to the right, while to the left the corridor ends at a blast door just around the corner to your right. However, the port dormitory beyond it is inaccessible:

[This blast door is magnetically sealed and cannot be opened.]

Garage, Workbench[edit]

The inner or outer garage door blocks the corridor to the right of the junction between the engine room and the main hold:

This is the Garage.

If you interact with the door:

[There is a hull breech in the area beyond this door. Safety protocols prevent you from opening it manually. Try using the security computer in the Main Hold.]

Garage Access[edit]

Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Garage Access: Bonus Mission
The garage is depressurized, and you can only open the Inner Garage Door if you close the Outer Garage Door and vice versa. To access it you will need two droids. Switch into Solo mode and move the first droid to stand in the hall between the Inner and Outer Garage Doors. Then switch to the second droid and move to the Security Terminal in the Main Hold. With the second droid use the Security Terminal to close the Outer Garage Door and open the Inner Garage Door. Then switch back to the first droid and you should be able to proceed into the Garage.

If you interact with the inner or outer garage door again after returning from the Cargo Hold and inviting the droid 3C-FD to join your party there:

[To access the area beyond this door, you will have to use Solo mode. Press BACK to toggle Solo Mode. While in Solo mode, move 3C-FD to the security computer to open the door for you.] [To access the area beyond this door, you will have to use Solo mode (Default: V). Click the Solo mode button at the bottom right area of the screen. While in Solo mode, move 3C-FD to the security computer to open the door for you.]

You've accessed the garage. In the garage is a Workbench. You should use the Workbench to Breakdown extra objects in your inventory into Components. Use the Components to create a Repair Kit.

Once inside, the sparking wires to your right on the lower side of the doorway can be used to open and close the inner and outer garage doors, just like the security console (although you only need to use them to get both droids in the garage, which is unnecessary):

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Sparking Wires: [Do you want to do anything else here?]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 3. Do nothing.

If you approach the workbench by the top left wall:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Workbench: [This is a workbench. With a workbench you can break down objects in your inventory into components. You can then use the components to create repair kits, weapons, armor and upgrades.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Workbench: [Because of the damage to the Ebon Hawk, this workbench has limited functionality. You can still use it to create a repair kit, which you can use to repair yourself.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Workbench: [Use the workbench to break down the items you've found into components. Then use the components to create a repair kit.]

If you interact with it:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Workbench: Workbenches can be used to CREATE, BREAKDOWN, and UPGRADE certain items.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. [Learn about using the workbench.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 1. [Learn about creating items.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png 3. [Learn about upgrading items. NOTE: This particular workbench is too badly damaged to perform this function.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. [Learn about breaking down items.]
KotORII Icon Dialog.png 2. [Use the workbench to create or breakdown items.] KotORII Icon Dialog.png 3. [Leave the workbench alone for now.]

Only five non-upgrade items can be created, with the following component cost:

Parts Repair Kit Computer Spike Security Tunneler Field Survival Pistol
10 1 12 5 3

Any item in Inventory breaks down into at least the single component needed to create a Repair Kit, and you can get two components from the high security cylinder in the Cargo Hold.

Journal Entry Added (Prologue) Garage Access: Bonus Mission
You created a Repair Kit. Repair Kits can be used to heal damaged droids. Skill in Repair will increase the effectiveness of the Repair Kits you use.

T3-M4 started with 5/30 Vitality and the Repair Kit can heal up to 28, which should restore maximum Vitality (although this is unnecessary). Once this quest is active, skipping or completing the prologue also completes it:

The garage of the Ebon Hawk has a Workbench. Among other things, you can use the Workbench to create Repair Kits, which can be used to heal damaged droids. Skill in Repair will increase the effectiveness of the Repair Kits you use.

Ebon Hawk Exit[edit]

Through the doorway in the top right wall of the garage is the left end of the corridor leading to the starboard dormitory to the right. The blast door at the left end blocks return to the main hold:

[This blast door is magnetically sealed and cannot be opened.]

In the top wall opposite the garage doorway is the Ebon Hawk's loading ramp:

[When the Ebon Hawk has landed, this is where you will go to exit the ship.]

Starboard Dormitory[edit]

The right end of the corridor beyond the doorway in the garage's top right wall may be blocked by a blast door:

[This door is sealed shut, but the magnetic clamps are not engaged. You may be able to override the door's locking mechanism from outside the ship.]

Once you've used the exposed wiring on the Starboard Outer Hull to override it, the door is open (although if you use the droid at the main hold's security console to do this now, then both droids will be taken outside).

This is the Starboard dormitory.

There's a footlocker by the top wall, and another by the right wall:

Storage Compartment[edit]

If you interact with the blast door in the top right side of the Ebon Hawk's main hold:

[You can hear a banging noise coming from the other side of the door to this storage compartment, but the door is sealed shut and cannot be opened from the outside.]
