This map is littered with GLA structures that are not visible – but that is not the most challenging aspect of this mission.

The first issue is dealing with the hopped-up Rocket Buggies that can destroy your ground units before they even get a chance to fire.

The second key challenge is dealing with the Sneak Attack tunnels that pop up on your base, spewing out Quad Cannons and Rocket Buggies.

Both of these challenges can be handled with Assault Helixes. The Assault Helixes cannot have upgrades, but come pre-equipped with the ability to carry eight Mini Gunners (or Tank Hunters) into battle. With just a few Mini Gunners in your Assault Helixes, they will provide your base with excellent defense.

The timetable is tight to get your Nuclear Missile launched before the Scud Storm activates, but it is still possible to build two Helixes -- with three Mini Gunners in each one -- before construction of the nuke begins.

The first few battles with the Sneak Attacks can go either way, so be ready to reload if it doesn’t go well.

Walkthrough[edit]

Basic start: Build a Reactor, an extra dozer, a Barracks and Supply Center. Build a second Supply Truck. Research the Capture command and build two Mini Gunners.

First capture the Artillery Platform, then the oil derrick.

Key Strategies
  • Build an Airfield and two Assault Helixes before building your War Factory.
  • During the Sneak Attacks, target the individual Quad Cannons and Rocket Buggies so that your Helixes don’t target the actual tunnel itself first.
  • If you are having issues losing your Artillery Platform, send a sacrificial Battlemaster tank out early in the mission to the northwest valley to provide a target for the suicidal Battle Cycles. Another way to survive this attack is to constantly repair your Artillery Platform during this attack.
  • You can build two Assault Helixes (with three Mini Gunners each) before building the Nuclear Missile. Besides these units, you must start building the nuke site immediately. With this walkthrough, you should have an extra 1.5 minutes of leeway.
  • The Scud Storm is located in the middle of the “cornfield.” Hit it first with your Nuclear Missile and then the level three Artillery Barrage. Otherwise, you may not destroy the base and it will continually rebuild. (It will still rebuild one time even with this method.)
  • Keep any ground units you build stationed on the outer edge of your base to protect them from Anthrax attacks.
  • Build your Air Field as far to the northeast as possible to keep Anthrax attacks from destroying any aircraft you may build later in the mission.
  • At the back of your base, put your buildings fairly close together so that the Sneak Attack tunnel is forced to come out on the “side” of these buildings. Have your Helix, Mini Gunners and/or Gattling Cannon in this location so you can destroy the enemy vehicles as they leave the tunnel.

Build two Gattling Cannons, above and below the Artillery Platform. Place them a bit closer to the base than the actual Artillery Platform, so that they will be safer from Rocket Buggies.

Build a third Gattling Cannon by the oil derrick to control any Ambushes that pop up.

Keep one dozer near the front of the base to repair the Artillery Platform and Gattling Cannons for as long as possible.

Build an Airfield as far to the northeast as possible to keep it out of the range of the Anthrax attacks.

Immediately build two Assault Helixes and put them in Guard mode centered on the Artillery Platform. As soon as possible load three Mini Gunners in each of the Helixes.

Build a War Factory.

Build a Speaker Tower behind the Artillery Platform to keep your Assault Helixes and dozer healthy. You should be able to survive continuing assaults without losing your Helixes, Artillery Platform or Gattling Cannons.

A Sneak Attack tunnel will pop up about now. Target the Quad Cannons first with your Helixes and you should be able to survive this attack.

Build a Propaganda Center, a second Reactor, then your Nuclear Missile. You may have another Sneak Attack before it is completed.

Research Chain Guns at the War Factory.

Your base will suffer an Anthrax attack. If possible, try to save your Supply Trucks. Replace at least one of them if you don’t. One of your dozers should be safe in the very back of your base.

While the Anthrax is still present, start building another Reactor and Gattling Cannon in the back of your base – outside of the reaches of the toxins.

Build a third Assault Helix and again load it with three Mini Gunners. Use this Helix to guard the back of your base. With the help of a Gattling Cannon in the area, you should be able to survive Sneak Attacks.

Go ahead and purchase the Radar function at your Command Center to activate your radar map on the control panel.

As funds permit, continue filling up your Helixes until they have eight Mini Gunners each. One of the great side benefits of this is that the airplane carrying the Anthrax will be shot down before it can attack your base.

Your base is now reasonably secure. Congratulations!!

Destroy the Scud Storm with your Nuclear Missile and level three Artillery Barrage. Be sure the Nuclear Missile hits first. For some reason, this works better.

If the Scud Storm is completely destroyed, it will only be rebuilt one more time. (If the base of the structure remains, it will continually rebuild itself.)

Start building five or six Hackers and put them safely behind the oil derrick. Set them to work hacking the Internet for much-needed cash. Cash flow after this point will not be an issue.

Continue to build additional Nuclear Missiles to aid your offensive operations. Do not allow enough space between buildings so that Sneak Attacks can appear between the buildings.

Offensive Operations[edit]

The GLA has two bases that must be destroyed – the one in the northwest and the one in the southwest.

Start with the one in the southwest.

Leave all of your Helixes previously built at your base.

Offensive operations will be complicated by the fact that tanks are not available in this mission. Destroyed structures will be rebuilt as long as workers remain in the area. Jarmen Kell will also be active in the region.

To counteract these drawbacks, you might consider massive nuclear weaponry to help even the playing field.

Don’t wait until your land or air units arrive at garrisoned buildings to blast them with your Nuclear Missiles. Attack them ahead of time to speed up the process.

Be sure to have detector units to help you avoid Jarmen Kell and other hidden units.

Here is a list of the eleven buildings that must be destroyed to finish the mission:

In the southwest base, going clockwise from the bottom: Arms Dealer, Barracks, Black Market, Supply Stash, Command Center and Palace.

In the northwest base, going counterclockwise from the top: Barracks, Arms Dealer, Command Center, Black Market and Palace.

By sheer perseverance, you will eventually be able to overwhelm the GLA. Send actual troops into destroyed areas to be sure structures are not rebuilt.

Mission accomplished!
