Mirrors can either be standing or must be hung on the wall, depending on the mirror. Not only are they used for aesthetic purposes, but they are also functioning objects, used to tend to Sims' Hygiene, but mainly they are used for skill building, specifically the Charisma skill.
The Practice Speech/Practice Romance interaction builds the Charisma skill. Can only be done by teens or older.
The Gussy Up interaction increases a Sim's Hygiene.
The Change Appearance interaction allows you to change your Sim's appearance, including their hair style/colour, makeup, face paint, eyebrows, facial hair, and accessories such as glasses.
The Check Self Out interaction is only available to teens. If teens have acne, they can use a mirror to apply cream to treat their acne.
If teens have high Aspiration, they unlock the ability to practice kissing.
