You first enter the Temple exterior from the Central Beach on its west side, encountering hostile Rakatan warriors and rancors, and you can be ambushed by Invisible Mandalorians by a pillar to the southeast of the Temple itself: if you've been to the northern Rakatan settlement to make a deal with the One but have made no deal with the southern Elder settlement yet, then you can return to Warleader Garn on the north beach to claim a reward and gain experience.

The Elder settlement is on the South Beach, and you cannot pass through the Temple Entrance until helping one of the settlements against the other, at which point you and the remaining Jedi can enter the Temple Main Floor.

Central Beach[edit | edit source]

The path from the central beach turns a sharp corner to the southeast, where you'll encounter two Rakatan warriors flanked on either side by a Rakatan elite warrior, with two young rancors behind them:

Debilitating the rancors is advisable due to the strength of their melee attacks: although they're immune to Force Push and Whirlwind and cannot be knocked back and down, Force Wave can still damage and stun them.

A path exiting the southwest side of the temple exterior leads to the South Beach.

Invisible Mandalorians[edit | edit source]

To the southeast of the temple exterior stands a single pillar: if you've visited the Rakatan settlement and made a deal with the One then subsequently spoken to Warleader Garn on the north beach, you'll anticipate the Mandalorian ambush as you approach it. All six Mandalorians use Mandalorian Power Shields (deflecting 30 points of energy, bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage in total) and grenades (the two Adhesive Grenades used by their captain are most problematic, so move into melee range at the first opportunity). Only the captain who spawns behind you to the northwest needs to be killed:

Temple Entrance[edit | edit source]

The entrance to the Temple of the Ancients is due east of the path from the Central Beach, at the top of a long but shallow ramp. However, if you try to enter:

[There is a powerful energy shield that prevents you from passing.]

Return after retrieving the ancient tome from the Elder settlement on the south beach for the One or rescuing the prisoner from the Rakatan settlement on the north beach for the Elders and saying that you're ready to enter the Temple, and its exterior will now be empty except for a group of five Rakatans or Elder Rakata gathered around a fire at the base of the ramp. Before approaching them, make sure you, Jolee and Juhani are properly equipped; a dark side character may also want to remove Carth's equipment. If you aren't alone and you speak to a Rakata or an Elder Rakata:

You must speak with our Guide if you wish to perform the ritual now.

If you then speak to the Rakatan or Elder guide:

The ancient traditions state that you must enter the Temple alone. I will not perform the ritual if there are others with you.

You need to remove everyone from your party before the guide will begin the ritual, although it doesn't take long for the remaining Jedi in your party to crash the party once it's underway:

Guide: I will begin the ritual. It will take many hours, but when it is complete you must be ready... the shields will not stay down for long. Prepare yourself.
Dialog
Guide: *Chanting*
Guide: Wait... someone is coming!
Jolee: Wait... you can't go in there alone!
1. What are you doing here? 2. I have to go in there alone. It's the Rakata tradition.
Juhani: We have had a... a premonition. The Force has given us a vision. There is great danger within the Temple. We cannot let you face it alone. Jolee: I had a... a premonition. A vision through the Force. There's great danger inside that Temple. I can't let you face it alone.
Jolee: You might be walking into a trap... maybe Malak himself is waiting inside. Even if he isn't, that temple will be crawling with Dark Jedi. You'll need all the help you can get.
Guide: No other can go with you into the Temple. You must enter alone. That is the way of the ancient ritual.
1. Jolee - you can't come! The Rakata won't allow it.
Jolee: Your destiny - maybe the fate of the entire galaxy - could be forever changed inside that Temple. I'm not about to let you face that alone. Not after my premonition. There's a reason I had that vision.
Juhani: Jolee speaks for both of us. You must enter the Temple, but we must go with you.
Jolee: So you just tell that guide of yours to do whatever he has to do to get us all inside the Temple.
2. I'm not going in alone after all. Lower the shields. 2. Continue the ritual.
Guide: No! You must enter the Temple alone! I will not lower the shields!
Jolee: I don't know what he said, but it sounds like your guide's being stubborn. We don't have time for this. The Republic fleet is on the way and we're stuck on this planet until we deactivate that disruptor field. You have to convince him to get us inside that Temple!
Always 1. [Persuade] These rituals are those of the Elders. They mean nothing to you! Always 1. [Persuade] I cannot destroy the Star Forge alone. They must come with me into the Temple. 2. Lower that shield or I'm going to cut you into little pieces!
Dark Side Points Gained: -2
Dialog
Guide: [Success] You... you are right! These are the rituals of the priest caste. The Elders are no more, now the Rakata control the secrets of the Temple! The laws of the Temple die with the Elders who made them! I will perform the ritual and allow you to enter the Temple. Guide: [Success] I... I believe you. The Elders have said you wish to destroy the Star Forge and end the terrible legacy of our ancestors. If you need help to do this, I will not stand in your way. Guide: No... do not hurt me! I... I will do as you command. I will begin the ritual.
Jolee: Not exactly the way I would have handled it, but given the circumstances it'll do.
Guide: I will resume the ritual now.
Jolee: Why do I get the feeling this is going to take a while? Still, we better stay ready. As soon as those shields go down we have to get inside the temple.
Guide: *Chanting*
Guide: *Chanting*

Once the ritual is complete, you and the remaining Jedi enter the Temple Main Floor and you won't be able to exit to return to Ebon Hawk or change party selection until you've reached the summit and disabled the disruptor field to allow you to leave this planet.
