AB: Arrow Blow — Archer skill
AC: Auto-Clicker. Before Nexon's implementation of GameGuard, these programs were one of the most popular way to gain entrance to the Kerning City and Ludibrium Party Quests. Nexon now prohibits their use. Despite the ban, they still are very popular today.
AE: Arrow Eruption — Sniper skill
AFK: Away From Keyboard
AFMS: Away From MapleStory
AP: Ability Points
APQ: Amorian Challenge Party Quest
AR: Arrow Rain — Ranger skill; Aqua Road
Asi, Asianic: Asianic Bow — Bowman bow
Azn: Asian

B

Bagged: Death by another player's summoning bag.
Banditsin (AKA Sindit): A Rogue that maxes Lucky 7 and makes the second job advancement as a Bandit.
BB: Bow Booster — Bowman skill; Black Bandana
BC: Black Crystal
BF: Bigfoot
BM: Bowmaster (4th job advancement of a bowman.)
BMM: Blue Mushmom
BMS: Brazilian version of MapleStory
Bomb: Arrow Bomb — Hunter skill; Meso Explosion — Chief Bandit skill
Booster: Weapon booster skill — Most classes have a skill to boost their attack speed.
BoT: Band of Thieves — Chief Bandit skill
"B>": Shorthand used to mean "Buying". For example; "B>Black Crystal"
BW: Blunt weapon (may also be known as a mace)
BWG: Brown Work Gloves — An expensive item due to its 7 slots

CB: Chief Bandit — 3rd job advancement of Bandits; Crossbow Booster — Crossbowman skill
CC: Change channel(s). Considered very rude to most people. To change channels means to leave a map (presumably to another channel) that someone is training on to avoid Kill Stealing them.
CC Plz: Change channel(s) please. Another way to use "CC".
CE: Curse Eyes, found around Sleepywood and Ellinia.; Cold Eyes
Clean: An equipment with all of its slots remaining.
CMS: China MapleStory
Comp, Compo: Element Composition: Ice/Lightning and Fire/Poison Mage 3rd job skill
Coolies: The Coolie Zombies in the Forest of Dead Trees maps deep in El Nath.
Coward: A term commonly used in Monster Carnival referring to a party inside whom frequently rejects others outside the room into competing in the Party Quest.
CP5: Cloud Park 5 — a popular training spot.
CPQ: (Monster) Carnival Party Quest
Crimson (AKA CRog): Crimson Balrog
Crus: Crusader — 3rd job advancement of Fighters
CS: Cash Shop; Cursed Sanctuary — the map where Jr. Balrog spawns.; Critical Shot — Archer skill
CS EAX: A form of vaccing (see vaccing). This one involves standing in one place while attacking any monster in the screen range.

Dark YnP: Dark Yeti & Dark Pepe combined — Enemy found in Dangerous Cliff in El Nath
DC: Dark Crystal
Defame: The act of defaming a player
DG: Drop game. A scam-related game in which two (or more) players drop items in turn order to obtain the other players' item(s).
Dit: Bandit
DK: Dragon Knight — 3rd job advancement of the Spearman.; Dark Knight — 4th job advancement of the Spearman.
DrK: Dark Knight — 4th job advancement of the Spearman.
DM: Dead Mines — Dungeon of El Nath.
DMT: Drake's Meal Table — Map in the dungeon, contains Cold Eyes, Cargos, and Drakes.
DR: Dark Ritual — Level 75 Magician staff
DS: Double Shot — Bowman skill; Dark Sight — Thief skill; Double Stab — Thief skill; Devil's Sunrise — Level 90 two-handed sword for Warriors; Drop steal — Stealing the drops of another player's kill if they don't pick it up.
DSG: Dark Stone Golem — Monster found in Sleepywood Dungeon III, IV, V and Golem Temple 3
DT: Death Teddy — Monster found in Forgotten Path of Time 3; Dragon Tail — Level 80 Bandit Dagger

EE: Evil Eye — A monster found deep in the Ant Tunnel.
EEC(1-4): Evil Eye Caves 1-4.
EMS: Europe MapleStory
END: El Nath Dungeon
EOS: Eos Tower
ER: Elemental Resistance — Dragon Knight skill; Elemental Resistance — Priest skill
ET: Evil Tale — Level 58 Magician Wand
EW: Evil Wing — Level 65 Magician Staff

FA: Final Attack — Bowman & Warrior skill; Fire Arrow — Fire/Poison Wizard skill
Farming PQ: In Ludi PQ, a party consisting of weak people that can't make it to the boss and repeatedly rush at a certain stage for the EXP
Farrow: Fire Arrow — Fire/Poison Wizard skill
Fizard: Fire/Poison Wizard — One of three possible 2nd job advancement for Magicians
FJ: Flash Jump — Hermit skill
FL: Friends List
FM: Free Market
FoG: Forest of Golem — A hidden street found in Sleepy Dungeon V, with Dark Stone Golems and Mix Stone Golems
FS: Facestompers
F/P: Fire/Poison Wizard/Mage

G

GC: Golden Crow — Level 60 Crossbow
GFA: Gloves for Attack Scroll (usually referring to 60%)
GK: Gatekeeper — A powerful monster found deep within the Warped Passage.
GL: An official abbreviation for GLobal (WeddingGL, ThemeGL, etc.)
Glitch PQ: A rush pq that takes advantage of a glitch to gain more exp. One primary example is smuggling items from a pq. However most glitches in pqs are now patched.
GM: Game Master — The employees of Wizet/Nexon/Asiasoft/Gamania/Level Up! Games/VinaGame who strive to maintain order in MapleStory. Easily identifiable by the GM symbol above their heads.; Guild Master — The leader of the guild.
GMS: Global MapleStory
GQ (AKA GPQ): Guild Quest
Grim: Grim Phantom Watches — High-leveled monsters that are found deep within Ludibrium.

H

HA: Holy Arrow — Cleric skill
HB: Hyper Body — Spearman skill
HH: Headless Horseman
HHG: Henesys Hunting Grounds — The first map to the left of Henesys.
Hime: Dreamy Ghosts — A high-leveled monster found deep within Zipangu.
HKMS: Hong Kong MapleStory (CLOSED)
HP: Health/Hit Point(s) — the amount of life, or health, a player may have. Acquiring damage may result in the decreasing of health/hit points, while consuming any type of health-providing products may result in the increasing of health/hit points. HP is indicated by a medium-sized red bar that is located at the very bottom of the screen right to the left of the MP bar.
HPQ: Henesys PQ; Herb Town PQ
HS: Holy Symbol — Priest skill; Hidden Street — A popular MapleStory database website.
HT: Horntail: A huge dragon boss in Leafre.
HTP: Horntail Pendant; Horntail pre-quest/PQ.
Hybrid: A class which can use 2 different weapons efficiently. (A spearman who uses both spears and polearms, or a bandit that uses luck and str daggers).

IA: Iron Arrow — Bowman skill
I/L, IceLit: Ice/Lightning Wizard/Mage

Jaeger: Gross Jaeger — Level 70 Crossbow
Jeti, J-Yeti: Jr. Yeti — Enemy found just east of El Nath
JMS: Japan MapleStory
JQ: Jump Quest
JRog: Jr. Balrog
JPQ or J>PQ: Joining Party Quest — used when someone wants to join your party for a party quest

K

KB: Knockback — Ability to knock an enemy back by doing more than a certain amount of (monster dependant) damage.
KFT: Korean Folk Town — A town located near Ludibrium.
Kittens, Kitties: Jr. Cellions/Jr.Lioners/Jr. Grupins — Enemies found in Garden area of Cloud Park.
KMS: Korea MapleStory
KPQ: Kerning Party Quest
KS/KSed: Kill Steal/Kill Stolen — Kill steal is when one user kills a monster that another user is fighting, or is about to fight.

L

L>: "Looking for" - used when shopping. After the ">", players write the name of the item they want.
L7: Lucky Seven — Thief Skill
Leech(ing): The act of having a higher-leveled character kill a monster so the lower-leveled character can receive some experience. Three ways to accomplish this (for the lower-leveled character): -Be within a five-level range of the monster -Be within a five-level range of the higher-leveled character -Deal some damage to the monster itself
Level/LV./LVL/LEV: Official references to character level.
Lith: Lith Harbor
Lizzard: Lightning Wizard — 2nd Job for Magicians
LMPQ: Ludibrium Maze Party Quest
LOWB (2): Land of the Wild Boar — located just to the right of Perion, in a Hidden Street, or Land of the Wild Boar II, located in a Hidden Street at the East Domain of Perion.
LPQ: Ludibrium Party Quest
Ludi: Short for the Ludibrium area of Ossyria, or the town with the same name.
Lycan/Lyco: Lycanthrope — Enemies found in Wolf Territory III and IV

Macis: Tauromacis — An enemy found on the way to Jr. Balrog
Mass Defame: The act of defaming a character multiple times by either using alternate characters, or calling upon one's friends to defame the character.
Maze PQ: Ludibrium Maze PQ
MB: Mortal Blow — Ranger and Sniper Skill
MC: Magic Claw — Magician Skill
MDT: Master Death Teddies — Monster found in Lost Time, a Hidden Street off Forgotten Path of Time 3
ME: Meso Explosion — Chief Bandit Skill
MG: Mix Golem; Magic Guard — Magician Skill; Meso Guard — Chief Bandit Skill
MM: Mushmom — Boss monster found in 'Someone Else's House' <--(Hidden Street located near taxi cab of Henesys.)
Mushdad: this is the monster Blue Mushmom. it is called mushdad because there already is a mom (mushmom).
MP: Mana/Magic Point(s) — A type of substance that enables a player to cast and perform magic, as in skills. MP is indicated by a medium-sized bar that is light-blue in color, located at the very bottom of the screen right beside the HP bar, while one is running the MapleStory program.
MP3: a Singapore map famous for the Jr. Selkies and Slimies, both of which offer rather high experience. Used by characters that can mob, usually
MPQ: Magatia Party Quest, NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH MCPQ.
MCPQ: Monster Carnival Party Quest
MS: MapleStory
MSEA: MapleSEA

N

Nath: EL Nath
NLC: Short term for New Leaf City
NPC: Non-Player Character. (Shop/Quest characters); Act of selling an item to a shop NPC instead of to another player.
NX: A short version of Nexon.; Nexon cash, used to purchase items in the Cash Shop of some MapleStory versions (other versions, such as MapleSEA, use a different name for this currency).

Oly: Olympus — Bowman Bow; "OMG Spear": Omega Spear, level 80 item
OPQ: Orbis PQ
OS: Omega Sector
Ossy: Ossyria

P

Pang: White Fang — A monster found outside El Nath, commonly in Wolf Territory 3-5
Pap: Papulatus — Boss deep within Ludibrium's clock tower.
PC: Price Check, used to get a feel for what the price of a (usually rare) item is.
PG: Power Guard — Fighter and Page skill
Pizard: Poison Wizard — Fire/Poison Wizard who uses pure Poison. Very uncommon build. Becoming more popular because of Pizards' ability to train on high level monsters (Death Teddies, etc) at low levels (50+).
PKB: Power Knock-Back — Hunter and Crossbowman skill.
Poly: Bowman Polyfeather Hat
Pots: Potion
PPQ: Herb Town Party Quest — Pirate PQ
PQ: Party Quest
ppl2pass: People to pass, on rankings.
PS: Power Strike — Warrior Skill
PT: Party. Party members can share part of EXP gained from other members (also known as Training). All members can pick up any mesos or items dropped by monsters killed by other members.
PT Leech: Party Leech(PTL) is who join a party do not kill but gain EXP from party.
PW: Phantom Watch, a strong monster at the bottom of Ludibrium's Clock Tower.; Phoenix Wand, a level 78 magician's weapon.

Q

Quitter: A term referred to someone who quits a party quest.
QP: Quest progress.

R

Repot: Refilling potions from the nearest store (usually a town).
Recharge: Recharging a persons stars or ammunition.
Rocks: A somewhat common term used for both Summoning Rocks and Magic Rocks, which are used in some high level skills.
Rog: Jr. Barlog/Crimson Balrog, mainly Crimson Balrog if heard on the boat to Orbis.
Rush: To exit a PQ in attempt to get in the second time(or more) in a row.
R>: Recruiting

S

SA: Soul Arrow — Bowman Skill
Sader: Shortened and common name to refer to Crusaders.
Sanc: Sanctuary Entrance series of maps.
SB: Slash Blast — Warrior Skill; Savage Blow — Bandit Skill
SC: Silver Crow — Bowman Crossbow; Server Check — time allocated for Nexon to make fixes/add items to the game, without players able to log on
SG: Stone Golems/Singapore.
Sin: Assassin character class. Referring them as "ass" obviously caused confusions and flame wars.
SinDit: Rouges who maxes Lucky 7 in 1st job and chooses bandit as 2nd job class.
Skeles: Skelegons.
Sleepy: Sleepywood
Smuggling (Smug): The act of taking out a PQ item without losing it by taking advantage of a lagging computer.
Sniping: Attacking a monster from range to prevent taking damage.
SP: Shadow Partner — Hermit Skill; Skill Points
Spears: Taurospear — Enemy found on the way to Jr. Balrog.
SQ: Squids. This could either refer to Black Squids or Lethal Squids, both known for the paltry magical damage they deal.
SQPT: Squid Party. Usually done for Lethal Squids.
SR: Shining Ray — Priest Skill
SW: Sleepywood — The town or the web site www.sleepywood.net
"S>": Shorthand used to mean "Selling".
STDs: Straw Target Dummies. Found in Basic Training Ground in Mu Lung and is considered a very good leveling spot from level 50 to about 70.

T

Tauros: Tauromacis and Taurospears, two quite high leveled monsters that reside deep in the SleepyWood Dungeon.
THMS: Thailand MapleStory
Track: Repeatedly using the /find command on a player to follow their movement, often used in PQs to determine a current party's location.
Train: If somebody ask for train, it means who want to party with players in higher level and gain much EXP from it. For an effective training, it is suggested to party with player at least 5 level higher than you. But you should note that if the trainer kills monster not for your level, you may not gain any EXP.
TT: Triple Throw 4th Job Night lord skill
TWMS: Taiwan MapleStory
"T>": Shorthand used to mean "Trading"

V

V2k: Vaulter 2000 — Bowman Bow
Vac/Vaccing: Vacuum Hacks, brings all monsters to a specific location. Wizet bans players who do this.
Vending: Going AFK while using a Shop Permit to sell items while inactive. (i.e. overnight)
Vic: Victoria Island
Vikings: Spirit Vikings, high-level Ludibrium monsters.
VK: Spirit Vikings.
VKPT: Spirit Viking party. A party formed to kill Spirit Vikings.; Gigantic Spirit Vikings, high-level Ludibrium monsters near Spirit Vikings.
VMS: Vietnam MapleStory

W

W/G or WG: Work Gloves
WK: White Knight — 3rd job advancement of Page
WW: Werewolf — Enemy found in Wolf Territory I and II
WS: Wolf Spider — A monster found in New Leaf City, inside of Big Ben.

X

XBow: Crossbow
XBowman: Crossbowman — Archer who specializes in Crossbows.

Y

Yepe, Yepi, YnP: Yeti & Pepe combined — An enemy found in Ice Valley II in El Nath.

Z

Z(1-4): Refers to the Forest of Dead Trees maps in El Nath (from I to IV).
ZB: Zombie.
Z-Helm: Zakum Helmet
ZLupin: Zombie Lupin
ZS, ZShroom: Zombie Mushroom
ZMM: Zombie Mushmom
Z-Run: A large group of people who defeat Zakum, usually to obtain Z-helms and skill books; many guilds offer Zruns for a high price.
