Grand Athenaeum is the place that holds all of Maple World's knowledge and records. This library is more than just dusty old books and tomes. Here you will be able to relive untold stories of key moments in Maple World's history.

Episodic Content

Episode selection

In the Grand Athenaeum, you play through three stories (otherwise known as episodes) that has happened in MapleStory's past.

Episode 1 - The White Mage Centuries ago, a brilliant magician left a cryptic warning for the world… ‘The ultimate light can only be found in the ultimate darkness.’ His words must be heeded if Maple World is to be saved.

Episode 2 - Empress In Training The story of Cygnus before she became Empress.

Episode 3 - The Black Witch Dunamis, the knight responsible for the Empress's safety, has gone missing. Can the Empress be saved? Another knight goes into the den of the Black Wings to find him

Quest List

General Common Rules
  • All quests can be done by any job.
  • All quests can be done by characters over Level 100.
  • Quests must be done in sequence, no skipping of quest allowed (unless otherwise stated).
  • There is no guarantee to the NPC and monster names since it is based off videos (that might not be English servers)
  • Quest names are replaced by part numbers to prevent confusion of the interpreted name and the actual name

Episode 1: The White Mage

Part 1

Procedure
  1. Talk to Skylark Bird
  2. Select Chapter 1: The White Mage
  3. Watch the cutscenes that follows.

Part 2

Procedure
  1. Talk to Hatsar's Servant.
  2. Go to the portal at the right to start to escort mission.
  3. Protect him from incoming monsters until he reaches the portal on the right. Do not stray away from him too far for too long.
  4. Enter the portal when he reaches there.
  5. Talk to him again.

Part 3

Procedure
  1. Talk to him again to be teleported into a cutscene. Land on Elin Forest afterwards.

Part 4

Procedure
  1. Talk to yourself.
  2. Take the portal on the right to the next map.
  3. Talk to Ephenia.

Part 5

Procedure
  1. Talk to her again.
  2. Go 1 map to the bottom right and kill 120 Secretive Pirates and 120 Pirate's Dogs.
  3. Return to her.

Part 6

Procedure
  1. Talk to her again.
  2. Go 3 maps to the bottom right and kill 180 Fierce Pirates and 180 Pirate's Owls. While travelling, you will encounter a cutscene with a small boy.
  3. Return to her.

Part 7

Procedure
  1. Talk to her again.
  2. Take the left portal. Finish reading the cutscenes.

Part 8

Procedure
  1. Talk to the boy.
  2. Take the portal to the right and travel all the way to the end until a dialog pops up.
  3. Attempt to return back to the previous map.
  4. You realise that monsters are invading. Kill all 3 maps of monsters.
  5. Watch the cutscenes about Omen, the boy and the White Mage.

Part 9

Procedure
  1. Talk to Martin, the servant on the right.
  2. Enter the 2nd portal from the left.
  3. Talk to the boy.

Part 10

Procedure
  1. Talk to the boy.
  2. Get Omen's fragment etc item. Attempt to enter the White Mage's room (2nd portal from the right).
  3. Martin notices that you are trying to look for the White Mage. Talk to Martin.
  4. He brings you to the White Mage and you talk to him in a cutscene.

Procedure
  1. Talk to the boy.
  2. Talk to Biawan, who is beside Martin.

Part 12

Procedure
  1. Talk to Biawan.
  2. Proceed outside on the left, kill light monsters to obtain 30 fine light fragments.
  3. Return to him.

Procedure

  2. Talk to Martin.

Part 14

Procedure
  1. Talk to Martin.
  2. Proceed outside to the right, kill monsters to obtain 50 ultrafine light crystals.
  3. Return to him.

Part 15

Procedure
  1. Talk to him. Obtain Magician's Sweet.
  2. Go to the 2nd portal from the left to find the boy.
  3. You could not find the boy, however you found a note left by him on his bed. Click on the note.

Part 16

Procedure
  1. Click on the note to read it.
  2. The boy mentions about his worry and that he is observing an increasing number of Omens, so he is trying to conbat against them. You feel worried and decided to look for him. Exit and travel all the way to the left until you found the boy.
  3. Surrounding the boy are 15 Omens. Kill all of them.
  4. Talk to the boy. (You will escort him back automatically as he is unconscious)

Part 17

Procedure
  1. Talk to the boy.
  2. While waiting for the boy to regain consciousness, you started thinking about the increasing number of Omens and started suspecting the White Mage.
  3. Talk to yourself to complete the self-thought.

  2. Talk to Martin.

Part 19

Procedure
  1. Talk to Martin.
  2. Martin stopped you from entering the White Mage's room but you insisted. Then you heard the White Mage speaking something strange, so you barged into the room.
  3. You realise that the White Mage has been corrupted with darkness but it is too late...

Part 20

Procedure
  1. Talk to Martin.
  2. Go to the right and check for the well-being of other servants.
  3. As you check, you found Traces of Darkness and also Omens. Kill them if you see them (for 3 maps).
  4. At the end, click on the Speck of Light.

Part 21

Procedure
  1. Talk to yourself.
  2. You are trying to find the White Mage. Move to the right until a cutscene pops up.
  3. The White Mage showed up. However darkness has overwhelmed him too much that Black Mage sounds a better name.
  4. You felt like as if you died. However you managed to overheard the boy talking to another mercenary.
