Maple World

The Maple World is a set of explorable continents. There are three main continents common to all versions in the Maple World: Maple Island, Victoria Island, and Ossyria. Victoria Island has seven towns and hunting areas - Ellinia, Henesys, Kerning City, Lith Harbor, Perion, and Sleepywood, plus a sub-region called Florina Beach. Ossyria has six regions: El Nath Mts., Aqua Road, Ludus Lake, Minar Forest, Mu Lung Garden, and Nihal Desert; also has ten towns - Orbis, El Nath, Aquarium, Ludibrium, Omega Sector, Korean Folk Town, Leafre, Mu Lung, Herb Town, and Ariant.

Additional continents and regions that are found in some versions of the game include Coke Town, Zipangu, China, Taiwan, and Floating Market. The latter four are all based off a certain culture, and were formerly exclusive to their respective culture's version of the game.

In addition, there are two marriage towns - Peach Blossom Island and Amoria. At Peach Blossom Island (available in ChinaMS, TaiwanMS, and MapleSEA), players take part in traditional Chinese marriages. Amoria, (available in ThailandMS and GlobalMS), hosts marriages based on western culture.

There are also event towns, such as Happyville and Shalom Temple, are only available during the Christmas and Hanukkah seasons, respectively.

Finally, Premium Road, accessible only from Internet cafes that have made contracts with the game, has been made available to KoreaMS, JapanMS, ThailandMS, and MapleSEA.

Maple Island

  • Mushroom Town, Amherst and Southperry
Map of Maple Island

Maple Island has two main towns: Amherst and Southperry. In JapanMS and EuropeMS, there is also the Mushroom Town Training Camp. Other versions are expected to soon follow this change.

Victoria Island

  • Ellinia, Henesys, Kerning City, Lith Harbor, Perion, and Sleepywood

Map of Victoria Island

Victoria Island has a number of areas to explore. There are several towns, named Ellinia, Henesys, Kerning City, Lith Harbor, Perion, and Sleepywood. Also, the subcontinent Florina Beach, an excavation site near Perion, and the event town Happyville are located on Victoria Island as well. It was once completely ruled by a culture called the Sharenian, who built a lot of the deserted structures on the island, like the Temple of Golems near Henesys and the Sanctuary at the end of Sleepywood's Ant Tunnel. This culture collapsed mysteriously under the rule of Sharen III.

Ossyria

  • El Nath Mountains: El Nath
  • Sky Road: Orbis
  • Aqua Road: Aquarium
  • Ludus Lake: Ludibrium, Omega Sector, and Korean Folk Town
  • Minar Forest: Leafre
  • Mu Lung Garden: Mu Lung and Herb Town
  • Nihal Desert: Ariant

Currently Ossyria is split into Seven regions: El Nath Mts., Sky Road, Aqua Road, Ludus Lake, Minar Forest, Mu Lung Garden, and Nihal Desert; and has ten towns: Orbis, El Nath, Aquarium, Ludibrium, Omega Sector, Korean Folk Town, Leafre, Mu Lung, Herb Town and Ariant. Currently Nihal Desert doesn't have region map, which some attribute to rumors of a dungeon in the works. To reach Ossyria, players must take a flying ship from the magician town of Ellinia. Depending on the current level of the player and the version of the game, the trip can cost anywhere from 3,000 to 80,000 Mesos. The ship departs every 15 minutes in most versions. However, would-be travelers must get into the waiting room of the ship one minute before departure time, shown on the dock. While in transit between Victoria Island and Ossyria, the Crimson Balrog boss may attack the ship. Lower level characters or those who do not wish to fight the Crimson Balrog should enter the cabin or risk being killed. An alternative method of transit to Ossyria is by using the Leafre-Ellinia portal, available if the player has a Magic Seed. This transport is instantaneous, but the only area that can be accessed from Leafre is Orbis.

Recently, the following World Maps of these Ossyria areas have been released:

World Tour Areas

World Tour Guide
  • Japan: Mushroom Shrine, Maple Castle and Showa Town
  • China: Shanghai Wai-Tan and Yuyuan Garden
  • Taiwan: Xi Men Ding and Night Market
  • Thailand: Floating Market

Originally, these continents were not a part of the main game. Each new continent was an expansion to each original versions. JapanMS was the first to expand their version with a continent called Zipangu. These additional continents reflect more on real world locations or real world things, with a few exceptions. At first, these new continents were to be exclusive maps for each version they originated from. Zipangu for JapanMS, China for ChinaMS, Taiwan for TaiwanMS, and Floating Market for ThailandMS. As of September 2006, the exclusive maps started to become accessible in other versions of MapleStory.

Marriage Systems

  • Peach Blossom Island and Amoria

Currently, there are two different wedding towns, with different themes and ceremonies. Peach Blossom Island is based on eastern culture, and is available in ChinaMS, TaiwanMS, and MapleSEA. Amoria is based on western culture, and is available in GlobalMS and ThailandMS.

Event Towns

  • Happyville , Shalom Temple, and Coke Town

Happyville and Shalom Temple

During the month of December, the Christmas themed town of Happyville becomes available.

Coke Town

Coke Town was a Coca-cola themed town for KoreaMS. It was available for approximately 8 months from midsummer 2006 to Spring 2007, then removed from the game without warning in patch v1.2.39. It has returned in patch v1.2.40.

Kerning City Internet Cafe - Premium Road

Premium Road can only be accessed from a cyber cafe that has established a contract with the local programming staff of MapleStory. The cyber cafe grants bonuses such as EXP boosts by 1.5x (1.2x in MapleSEA), but only offers a limited amount of maps. Players at participating internet cafes can access Premium Road by talking to an NPC in Kerning City.

Premium Road is currently only available in KoreaMS, JapanMS, ThailandMS and MapleSEA.

Free Market

The Free Market is a place set aside for people who wish to sell their items by setting up a shop. They can either use the regular 'Buying item' or they can set up their own miniature shop where a maximum of 3 people are allowed in at once. In order do the latter, players will have to purchase a special permit available only through the Cash Shop. Even while on another island, such as Ossyria, one may still make contact with people in Victoria Island through the Free Market. One can communicate and trade with someone entering the Free Market from any town. However, one cannot use the free market to travel between towns, barring the Free Market glitch in Maple global, wherein one logs out in the Perion FM, and logs into the FM, and exits to find himself in Aquarium. This glitch was patched in GMS version 0.28.

Town Availability

This chart shows which towns and related areas are available in each respective version. Template:MapleStory/Versions/Areas
